I've been following this channel for many years, and one noticeable issue is the inconsistency in the reviews. They tend to either accentuate the positives and downplay the negatives of certain phones while doing the opposite for others. It would be great if all phones were evaluated on an equal footing.

A +1 to this. Originally, I thought it was Arun's preferences, but the coloured judgement permeates right through tech reviews and reviewers here. I like that Arun is British, but he tries very hard to impress our American friends.

At some point in the future, I'd like to get a foldable like this. I don't know what to expect from next year's Samsung. If they fixed their form factor and came down a bit in price, a lot of people might just want to buy them. The S Pen and Samsung Dex are some things that I really think complete the foldable experience, so I don't think I'm quite sold on this OnePlus. But its form factor, hinge and crease look quite a bit ahead of Samsung. Good job OnePlus!

Always been a Galaxy Note guy. Just love the big screens. When the fold came out, I knew I had to have it. I have the Fold 3 and the Fold 5. The fact that this is OnePlus' first attempt at a foldable phone really makes me excited for the next generations of this phone. They managed to get quite a lot right and solved annoyances with the competition's offerings. With more development and optimization, this could easily be THE phone to beat in the foldables market.

@@Reinturtle That's true. Also OnePlus wanted to look better on paper as compared to their competitors. The person who is spending 1699 wants the best phone and wouldn't compromise for 100 dollars, thus they maxed it out.

@Reinturtle Exactly this, u can look up the spot prices of lpddr and the storage difference on premium nvme ssd's with a manufacturer's markup is literally about $10 from 256gb-512gb. So like $5-8 for these companies

idk, I doubt it would increase or decrease by ~70 usd and if you are already willing to splash out 1740 usd, why not just choke up a few more bucks? I think there was a psychology study based on a similar mindset but I can't remember but either way, it is logical.

Its fine lad. You atleast have a foldable. Which is very few people can have right now. Besides, it's still a foldable. Most of what he had said is more of QOL features or efficiency so it's no biggy. Use it as much and take care of it until you need to replace it.

There's certainly a big disadvantage when considering this phone for purchase considering such heavy price. What are your views on this? 1. Very very poor touch response rate - Oneplus 11 5G has upto 1000Hz touch response rate; Oneplus Open has only upto 240Hz 2. Low Resolution than Oneplus 11 5G - Oneplus 11 5G has 3216*1440 (QHD+), 525 ppi; Oneplus Open has 2440*2268 (2K), 426 ppi

Pre ordered my One+ Open last night (19/23) and paid deposit, hopefully all goes well and it'll be delivered on 25/10/23 as my Fold 4 was delayed multiple times 🤦 This is the YT review I've been waiting for and it did not disappoint!!! My current daily driver is the Fold 4 while I waited for the Oneplus Open and will be interesting how they compare to each other. Nice phone, less than groovy name imo - One+ Fold sounds more catchy (unless Samsung has the "fold" trademarked) Always loved One+ brand for their original design & the fact they still pack EVERYTHING you actually need ie case & fast/quality lead & charger. Pre-order comes with the Pro Buds 2 which is a nice bonus but a trade in value would of been appreciated as its more convenient than selling online etc but we'll see how it goes for a week or two before fully committing, although I can't see a reason atm to switch back. Love the videos as always.

I used to be a big OnePlus fan. Had a 3T, 6T and then an 8. With the 8 I was never that impressed with it the way I was the previous models. They used to be the budget kings and just lost their way into being a middling smartphone brand. Ended up switching over to Pixels and I've been quite happy. But this is the innovation OnePlus needs. They can do great things if they choose to. It seems like they've been sitting dormant for awhile now and this is a great step in the right direction. Their audience was always the tech savvy and this is a great way to grab back their attention.

I had Samsung galaxy note 8 and it had an amazing Multi tasking experience featuring up to 5 apps in pop ups. The ‘edge’ apps feature existed since Note 4 edge and has been so useful all along. Samsung was always ahead in the software game. Finally power users have the foldable phone options.
@meadmaker4525 Жыл бұрын
I've been looking forward to seeing what One+ would bring with this foldable. It looks stunning, particularly in that green color. I think the only thing that disappoints is the lack of wireless charging. I've kind of gotten used to that with my current phone, so paying $1600 for a phone that doesn't do it seems counterintuitive. I'm certainly not a "power user," but I find the foldable screen tech really compelling, and being to view and interact with things on that larger screen is pretty attractive. I've heard a number of things aren't really optimized for the inside screen's aspect ratio, but that game you kept showing in the demo seemed to fill the screen well enough, even if there was a bug in the render. So, now I'm at that point where I'm asking myself, "If I'm willing to drop $1300 on an S23 Ultra (or maybe the S24 Ultra if I wait a month), why not cough-up the extra $300 and get the One+ Open? It's tempting. Very, very tempting. Keep watching reviews like this in hopes of finding something that'll tip the scales.

Meanwhile I'm currently hella tempted to trade my S23 Ultra for the Open, this is just quite overkill phone and hard to use single handedly

@@juhokokkonen6518 - I was stuck trying to decide between the S23U, the Z-Fold 5, or the One+ Open. I went with the Z-Fold 5. I've had it for a couple weeks now and am very happy with it. Easy to use one handed and the larger inner screen is excellent.

I feel like im the only one on Earth that can't care less for the wireless charging gimmick 😂 The only thing that would actually add to this form factor would be taking a look at the early Galaxy Notes by adding a pen that can be hidden inside the phone.
