It looks like you use more water per bag when you are doing a large area. So it is more liquid and runs better. I’d that correct? We can’t get the make of Mapei that you use in the UK. I use Mapei 3240 and it is very thick even at the maximum water recommended on the bag. I wonder how much extra I can do.
@MrYoucandoityourself2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, I guess it's the same material that I am using, only for different countries they make different brand names. I add for 3 bags of SLC - 5 Ga of water.

Hi Patrick, I gave estimate only when is subfloor clean, without any old floor covering. I checked with straight edge and laser calculate how many bags and grinding(by the hours), approximately. Raffle middle price for leveling $2 per s.f. Sometimes less, or more if it's too bad.

Very good question! You don't need straight edge from wall to wall. Most useful - 8 Ft. long, but for more quality work I am using 10 Ft. long straight edge. First of all find high spots and grind it down, then low spots and fill it up. This is the point!

Glad you explained the toilet.was going to say your work was to good not to pull it.loved the clamp and board trick for the tile edge.usually notch a stick or a piece of baseboard.havent seen he depth gauges before used to use 4 1/4's to set depths on big mud jobs.after 40 years on the floor you can still pick up a couple new tricks. Still pure the floor and run screed lines if it's deep pitched transition then bonding agent on the floor & in the mix start out with thirty to fourty percent sand mix to the rest multipurpose thinset then tapper it down at the low end.with lighter amount of sand mix and finish with straight multi thinset.useually have 3 buckets going at a time.then come back scrape and skim.with mapei planning patch or self leveler. Mapei or Henry where needed mostly to finish the edge.do mostly tile can make up the rest with a trowel.bot always wish I would've just used self leveler.instead of trying to save the customer to much money.sometimes have to take the hit on labor to get the job.can mostly pick & choose an someday a half a load is better than no bread at all.or just working with a repeat customer have to take care of your bread and butter.and returning to a house that you have worked on a few times gets to be like seeing old friends.

@@MrYoucandoityourself Yeah, I hear ya on that! I like the tripod system, it is a very neat system and way less time consuming. I had to split my basement up into 2 sections because I had so much junk down there. The one side I did turned out decent, over a 6' level its perfect, however over 10' theres the occasional 1/8-3/8" dip, I may go back over it with a topping compound, but it may not be needed. Hi, this is not a new idea. You can put fin to minimize quantity of leveling compound. It’s work to. On job site I don’t do it. It’s take time, but who evaluate the work?
@cho0322 Жыл бұрын
Fellow DIYers: get the spiked roller. Seriously. I leveled my basement floor a month ago to prep for LVP. In my many hours of scientific KZbin research I saw the spiked roller being used in several videos, but I found it odd that there were so few options for them - a few cheap-looking ones on Amazon or shipped from big box stores (none in stock). I just went with a long metal trowel blade and I really regret it. I repeat: Get the spiked roller. At least for the self-leveling concrete I used (TEC), you need to work EVERY SQUARE INCH of this stuff to encourage it to actually level. It says "self-leveling" on the bag but that's a lie. If you pour it and only work the edges, I found the center of the pour can be up to 1/2" higher after it sets. I ended up mixing 3 extra bags to fill gaps and even had to grind down an area of about 2' diameter.
@MrYoucandoityourself Жыл бұрын
