Back in the day I worked at a bank, and what got me through those long days in one building dealing with difficult customers was my fishing trips to the lake or river Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was a personal day …just me out in the water not having to deal with anybody and then Sunday I ‘d go with either my friends, dad or cousin. It’s a past time that is not strongly celebrated like it used to be it’s a strong recipe for quality time with the fresh air, your loved ones and yourself

Watching old school fishing videos brings me back to my childhood growing up watching InFisherman, Bill Dance, Hank Parker, and all those shows on the Outdoor Network on TV. I love fishing history, seeing how things evolved and progressed, and seeing how the old timers got things done! AL and Ron Lindner are the greatest fisherman to ever live in my honest opinion, so influential and innovative it’s hard to imagine fishing being the same with them and InFisherman paving the way for all of us today! The old Trilene commercials were hilarious! And AL still looks the same as ever!

I'm still using Ambassadeurs and Lew's Speed Spools (BB-1), 5 1/2' pistol-grip rods for bass fishing. I use two Shimano heavy-action 'Fightin' Rods' with braid on BB-1 Speed Spools for hollow-body froggin', I love using rods and reels from the mid to late 70's, four of my reels I've owned since 1976-1978, the rest I've purchased pre-owned on eBay after I retired in 2018.

It's fascinating to see what tackle held up over time. The Ugly Stik is still popular and improving, the Handle-less design Shimano was well ahead of its time, ranger boats are still made one at a time, and the shad rap is still as popular as it is effective. Johnson tackle is all but forgotten, Blue Fox and Beetle Spin have faded away into the trout/panfish market, reels have far less gimmicky knobs and are simpler and better built, and when was the last time you saw a PH meter used frequently on a boat?

I tested 2 "beetle spins" recently; the old 1980s version from my Pop's tackle box and one i bought from wally world. Old school spin runs true and newer China import one.....it belongs in tree. I think what hurt the beetle spin was the knock offs such as Bettle Spin from Betts tackle and box store brand knockoff. My MK Endura is noisier than my Pop's Black n White MK.

Finally, another animated fish appears, forming Fish Formula Gamefish. The announcer says that the revolutinary Fish Formulas are used by the world's best fishermen, enough said.👍
