Very helpful- thanks Tony! People criticize MSC's food, in comparison to more expensive cruises. I love MSC due to their amazing value- they have created their own market niche without true comparison. If people want to compare MSC to Celebrity or Royal Caribbean, they should compare the Yacht Club which is more price comparable. Yacht Club food is quite high end, and includes the premium drink package (premium wines, Disarrono margarita- wow)

I came off the MSC Meraviglia a week ago. The Market Place Buffet was fab! Wide variety and you can eat healthy! My first cruise post pandemic.

My opinion is a lot isn't always the best as long as what is available is good. I personally love MSC cruise line . It's different than American cruising but find the entertainment amazing and the ships are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks Tony!

This is a reduced menu. They normally have more because when we were on this ship for NYC to Canada cruise it had many more selections. Might have more at dinner time

Correct they usually have a lot more variety. Breakfast there's usually have about 7 different versions for breakfast. Yes breakfast. Maybe they cut down as there are less people on board??

My husband and I have sailed with Carnival, Royal, Celebrity, and Holland , but by far the worst food was on the MSC on the Meraviglia . I assume all MSC ships have the same cruise food being offered. We did make due in the Market Place Buffet for Breakfast , and lunch , but when the main dining room serves you a pre packaged once frozen Corden Blu in the future , that is the end of us sailing with them future. .

so you think Royal carribean has best foods? carnival not bad, thinking of MSC but heard bad negative things they cancel cruises not giving refunds back can't get a hold of cust svc agents ..just gets scary.

You had me at TACO! I also think the selection of items was perfectly lovely - both the number of items and quality of offerings. I don't need what I consider an overwhelming large number of items to select from. MSC's food selection looks great!

I found the selection too basic. Would be suited to kids as it included mostly options that could be found on kids menu at most restaurants. Not much for the adventurous palate and does not rise to the standard buffet expected on most cruise ships.

We were to go on the Meraviglia in Oct. MSC changed the itinerary without any notification. MSC moved our room from a mid-ship balcony to a rear-ship balcony without any notification or reduction in price. When I found out about vaccine passengers having to wear a mask that was the end, we cancelled and took a $200 per person hit. I guess it was worth it. I'm going back to the United States-based cruise line. U.S companies at least notify you of changes and give you a pass on the penalty. I'll never, ever cruise with MSC. Tony, thanks for your updates, they are entertaining and informative.

In my opinion, if MSC made all those huge changes to your original contract without your permission they should not have penalized you for canceling.

Having cruised multiple times on other cruise lines (NCL and Princess) the food choice was anemic and did not look very appetizing either.

And if my wife had something to say about my ultimate selection I would then blame on the research for the channel. Someone has to take for the team and I really wish it would be me!!!!! Out of the cruise lines I have sailed I would have to say if this is what they are offering for lunch, this is not a lot of variety. I would get tired of this food for lunch on a week cruise. Maybe this buffet has limited choices due to Covid? Hmm. Do they have other included restaurants on that ship? The ship looks gorgeous and I would love to try out MSC but included food just doesn’t seem to cut it. The cruise may be cheaper than other cruise lines but once I would add in specialty dining each day and night the costs would add up.

I never failed to get enough food from buffet on seashore cruise. Pizza first rate, big mac sauce top and bottom of bun, carving station thanksgiving day entire side of beef big as me. They bring you your drinks to table. Hand tossed salad in front of you. Excellent.

Love the food on MSC. Plenty to choose from. Laugh when I see unhappy cruiser in the buffet complaining about the food with two plates piled high. . Tony on my ticket info it says everyone will be issued a MSC for me bracelet when boarding at no charge for contact tracing. Fid this happen when you boarded?

We never Cruise MSC but did start thinking about Them. And Yea compared to all other Cruise Lines We have been on the Lunch Buffet looks a little thin , but looking forward to VOS of Breakfast and Dinner.

I think that’s a great lunch selection. There is a little bit of everything, you have your Mexican, Italian, American, sandwich board, salad, and a fish selection. I would be happy with that.

The size of the selection offered reminds me of the older Horizon Court on Princess Grand ships. I was spoiled when we tried NCL Joy for the first time, seeing how big their buffet was. Not saying the food was better or worse, just way more selctions. Plus those mini-buffet spots in the Explorer Lounge.

Thanks, Tony! Reassuring info. I'm sailing on Oct. 31 from Genoa, Italy on the brand new MSC Seashore. Bringing her to her new home port in Florida! My friend and I are foodies, and are trying to keep a very open mind regarding MSC's buffet reputation. But I think the specialty dining rooms will keep us from wasting away during the 18-night voyage! Honestly though, it wouldn't hurt either of us to lose a few lbs! So if we can keep from getting canceled, we are ready to cruise, whether masked, distanced, underfed, or anything else!

I was on this ship January 2020. I thought the buffet was better than the MDR. And the burgers in the buffet were surprisingly good. Enjoy!

After being on the Princess it looks small, I only went twice to buffet because it took a long time to go all around and food didn’t stay hot and was cool by the time I sit down to eat. But the assortment was to die for excellent. I did order a room service breast fast and it was a lot warmer than buffet food for me. So next time if still pandemic. I will sit down after each cooked dish and go back to get a different one. Even had adobo first time I’ve seen that on a ship. Just a wonderful assortment.

Just sailed there in August of 2024. Food was great most of the time. Selection was good. Wouldn't mind a couple more dishes though. One dinner they served grilled lamb chops. Another dinner they had mussels. Not sure exactly what time lunch was served because we were always busy. Though they always had burgers, hot dogs and their wonderful fresh baked pizza. Dessert needs a little work. Other than that I truly enjoyed the buffet food and would sail on MSC Meraviglia because of all that it has to offer.

Totally agree with Dian. We have been on a variety of cruise ships and MSC was by far the worst when it came to food selections etc We were on the MSC Divina last February and were very disappointed. The salad bar was very small and lacked variety.The food served in the dining room lacked appeal as well as taste. Won't be cruising with MSC Divina in the future.

Carnival is making fully vaccinated passengers take at least antigen tests at least 72 hours to cruising and requiring masking in many waiting and high volume areas where people are congregated indoors. Likely just ended my cruise

I think it was more than adequate as far as selections go. We have cruised MSC a couple times and never had any issue with food.

Some more hot and cold deli sandwiches would be nice, but it seems like they don't have a lot of extra space to put them out. Maybe made to order? I'd also expect potato salad, coleslaw and mac salad as well. Is this the only no surcharge place to have lunch?

Tony, we are cruising in July out of Barcelona on the Meraviglia and are waiting on them to update the excursions. They only have one listed at the moment (explorer package) as I assume Covid is still the reason. I know our trip is a little ways out but was wondering if multiple excursions are being offered on current cruises with MSC in the Med? Any ideas when they might offer more?

Hey, it's the buffet people! If you want better, use the MDR. My kids (and I) would be happy enough with the selections they have provided they have some different items on subsequent days. I hope it isn't carved chicken every day, but one day for it, beef next, then pork, etc. is just fine. Pizza is always good, and pretty good choice of items for a salad, etc. I will be interested if the items change as the days go by. Glad to see them serving it rather than guests putting their hands all over it, etc.

We took advantage of the cheap rates for balcony at inside cabin price and booked 1st MSC cruise in September on Divina so I can live with the lunch buffet. The desserts looked delicious though. That's all that matters, right?
