MSC Meraviglia Europe Cruise: Genoa

We're in #Genoa today on our wonderful MSC Meraviglia Mediterranean Cruise. We've made absolutely no plans. How’s that going to work out?

We are up bright and early as we cruise into Genoa, but we don't have an excursion booked. We are going to hang out on the ship, have a nice leisurely breakfast in the #YachtClub, and enjoy the view. Later in the morning I'll head down to the MSC Aurea Spa and give you a quick look around. After the spa visit, we head off the ship and explore the port a little. Before long we run into a friendly young lady that helps us decide what we want to do. A hop on hop off (HOHO) bus tour seems to be our best choice for the day, and we board the bus, cameras ever ready. It's a great tour around the city, and fits nicely with our collective energy levels. Back on the ship we've got more mom and son fun in store. We hit the waterpark, and get crazy on the slides. It's our last full day on the ship, and our last chance to experience the Himalayan Rope Course. Jr. Editor was the only one wearing proper shoes, so we let him hit the ropes without us. Of course, we took lots of photos and videos. It was super fun for him, and he had a great time testing his skills. We round out the night with the Cirque du Soleil dinner show. Spoiler, it was fantastic. Filming the performing is not allowed, so sadly we are not able to share any footage with you.

You guys picked a great time for this cruise. Good weather and minimal crowds. I loved Jr's excitement. I still have 184 days before my YC cruise on Seaside. But I'll be in Europe in six weeks - a land trip, not a cruise. Eight countries in 9 days. I was 9 years old the last time I was there. If we have a good time (and we expect we will!) we may book a cruise for next year. We're looking at MSC with itineraries that include Spain, Morocco, and Portugal. Still on the bucket list is New England/Canada.

I love the hop on, hop off buses! Junior Editor has my awe- he was killing that ropes course! I'd be all about those slides, I'm part mermaid :) This was a lovely cruise, looks like Yacht Club is the way to go on MSC.

Genoa looks beautiful. I like live tour buses better than pre recorded audio tours. Good choice returning to ship bc you were tired. That's what I love about cruising is your cabin and food and comfort are usually nearby. Great vlog! Cheers! 😎

I enjoyed this video guys. I'm going on MSC Grandiosa next May from Barcelona taking in a different port every day including Genoa and Malta. Day 7 will be a sea-day as the ship travels from Malta back to Barcelona. I booked a 2-night stay in a hotel before the cruise. It will be my first cruise vacation so I can't wait. 'Only' 160 days to go. Again, thanks guys for another great video. I enjoy following your adventures.

I’m sold on MSC I’m going to start research and Sheri I get testy eyed the last day and I’ve loved all the different room stewards and dining staff we’ve encountered a long the way amazing trip have loved coming along with you and the boys. I know people say it’s great to see Europe and only unpack once. For me, I think it’s a little light on the “visiting Europe” part. There is so much more you can see and experience of these counties when you aren’t tied to a ship and ports. I think I’ll keep them separate.

Hi Sheri, good to see you are enjoying Europe so much. We totally agree with you that that part of the world is exceptional, with it's history, architecture, people, and scenery, which just can't seem to be matched in the newer parts of the world. Cheryl and I enjoy your vlogs very much, and you and hubby (and Junior) do a great job of making it special. As you'll see on our Blog at www.jcatthelake.com/ we have had quite a few cruises in that area of the world, and just love it!!! As you'll also see from the blog, we have started booking for the first River Cruise we've planned, starting in Amsterdam and finishing in Basel, Switzerland. Having researched many a KZbin video on the Rhine River, we are certainly excited to be taking this opportunity, before we get too much older. Included in that trip, we have planned a Trafalgar Bus Tour around England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, which should be a hoot!!!! Anyway, keep up the good work with your very entertaining vlogs, and a Safe and Happy Travelling to you and the family.
