MSC World Europa: DUBAI - WORTH SEEING? Episode 2: Embarkation day

It’s quite a nice room isn’t it! I was a little surprised by the size too but I just love the look of MSCs new cabins, really clean and really nice! We haven’t done a promenade balcony yet but have one booked on a different cruise line later in the year and really intrigued to see what it’s like! Love the advice about emptying the mini fridge! I always forget that you could ask them to do that!

Fraser, my wife and I did the same route a few years ago. My advise is to use the organised tours (MSC) for the shore excursions in the Middle East. The Grand Mosque in Oman (or was it Abu Dhabi) is fantastic, the locals are really friendly and hospitable, wear modest dress (I bought and wore a jibjab and the locals loved it!!) Get the photos with the falcons in Oman port. Petra is a MUST!! Do the full day tour with lunch, Indiana Jones vibes. Heraklion (Crete) is a city so get out to Knossos or a tour of Crete countryside (I lived on Crete for a couple of years). Love your videos. No worries from Australia.

Fraser, I love your channel. I've done a fair bit of cruising in the past, but am getting ready to go on my first solo trip in October (Fort Lauderdale through Panama Canal, down the Pacific Coast of South America and ending with 10 days in Antarctica). It's a 40 day cruise and I've also wondered (worried) about meeting others and having people to share meals with. Thanks for your honesty about your concerns - it already makes me feel better!

I'm a recent subscriber to your channel - loving the vlogs and am working my way through them. 😀 I've not been on a cruise myself and as would-be solo cruiser in his mid 50s it'd be great to get an idea of which cruise line would suit me best - I'm not sure I'd want to be on the really big ships you travel on as they seem quite noisy! That said I do enjoy meeting new people, having a drink and seeing new things. I guess I'll figure it out as I watch your vlogs. 😀

When you said you couldn't eat in a public area, is that just in port, or does that include the ship slso if so? Where did you ear at on the ship is the MDR or buffet a public area maybe do a separate vlog on all Ramadan rules on ship and in ports

So there weren’t any Ramadan rules on the ship - great question though! The rules all applied in ports, and I’ve got a ‘tips for cruising the Middle East’ video planned, so great to hear this could be of benefit! Thanks for watching!

To confirm they take your passport and give it back at the end of the cruise?

They took mine in Dubai and I got it back a few days later - they didn’t keep it the whole cruise. I think we got it back after left the emirates - we needed it to get into places like Saudi etc!

@@meshacke from memory, that’s correct - only those leaving the ship needed a visa :)
