Lol. I have been changing tires too long. The ones I hate are the low profile. And certain brands are worse than others. And rims. Dont use those steel collates on those. You will shred the cover. And certain rims that have high lifts like telkien will make the day go bad really quick. I have been there.

Thank you so much for this video. Just started working in a shop and partnered with an old guy who’s complete know it all for a trainer. Doesn’t have the patience to train the new guy so I basically have to train myself. I was on this machine and he would get upset with me for failing to understand the process of how this machine works even though he doesn’t teach me. Anyways, thank you for making this process so simple. I’m going in tomorrow with full confidence after this video. ✌🏾✌🏾

Hey I just started working yesterday and I know nothing about how any of it worked I am always worried that it’s gonna blow up but it’s just a matter of being comfortable with it but I had the same problem this guy 2 or 3 years older than me who didn’t care at all to teach me because I knew nothing

Same, same and many if the techniques were not shown, note where his body is when using the lever to deal with the bottom bead of the tire to take it off, incredible. Some these mechanics are clearly not teachers.

I know it's 4 years, but branch out into Big Rig Tires and roadside tire service. Huge money in truck tires. Companies usually cover the cost and owner operators can easily pay as well. Try giving owner operators a 10% break and they'll send you SO much business over their CB's and message boards. Corporations can absorb the full cost.

@euonymus19806 жыл бұрын
Nice video. One question- What is the difference between inside and outside rim clamping? Why would you use one method over the other? Thanks!
@huffgaming76676 жыл бұрын
euonymus1980 clamping from the outside. How the table was made to do. It has a better grip on the wheel and less chance of slipping. And in cause of a slip it doesn’t scratch the wheel. If you clamp on the inside it can come loose while unmounting or mounting the tire and injure someone. And it could slip and scratch the wheel

You saved my life! I work at an auto shop and they have a similar tire machine. Now I know what to do! Took me 3 hours just to use one of these to change my tires out. But this time, it'll take me only 30 minutes to do this. :D

Other then not talking about TPMs and how not to break them, since you can destroy them at the Bead Breaker, removal of tire and even putting a new one on. Also if your planning to get a new tire you don't need lube when your taking off tire since that just waste time and flat rate is all about speed.
@Heaugerkerkerk17 жыл бұрын
if you need special instructions not to break the bead or drop the hook right where the valve stem sits, then maybe this whole vid is too complex for you to begin with. lube always helps and it's a good habit to get into. Myself, I prefer not to shred tires or break stuff when the 2 extra seconds it takes isn't gonna make or break anything. I'd rather do things the correct and safe way where nothing gets broken instead of the fast and furious way which ends up costing more money and possibly causing injury. Judging by your comment it would seem you don't share the same thinking.
@Heaugerkerkerk17 жыл бұрын
Besides all that, lube and tire techs don't get paid flat rate.
@DDayDark7 жыл бұрын
Well Pep boys doesn't have tire techs so we get paid .25 each tire, so 4 tires is 1 hour at flat rate. I do them right I just don't care about the tire I'm taking off since it's getting replaced, all I need to care about is TPMs, it's a good habit to treat all tires as if it had TPMs. When breaking the bead Have the Valve Steam at 12 or 6'O clock (Note: not all TPMs are at Bottom of the valve stem there is thing called Band TPMs that are placed on the opposite side Valve Steam) It's also best when removing the tire after breaking the bead it's good idea to put TPMs right after the arm (about hands length away so you don't hit it) so you don't put unneeded pressure on the TPMs as it gets removed.
@Heaugerkerkerk17 жыл бұрын
IF a tire is garbage maybe I could see your point. However that is not the case for tire patch jobs or swapping a set of wheels over to winter tires, which in my experience make up most of the tire jobs that come through the door at a dealership or tire shop here in Northern Ontario. From my experience which is mostly dealership, tire techs and lube techs are paid by the hour and are usually the ones doing tires instead of licensed mechanics.
@DoTheTechnique10 жыл бұрын
No, you shouldnt have to. It inflates faster without it. Put the valve core in when your just over the desired psi.

@dalemullen76247 жыл бұрын
I noticed that he used the "expanding" clamp method. Won't this damage rims, especially the aluminum models. Wouldn't it be better to use the "clasping" jaws, preferably padded/protected to protect the rim from damage?
@oshawaloverboy7 жыл бұрын
Dale Mullen You are correct Dave. In my tire shop, we only use the expansion's clamp on old steel rims. More often then not, we grip them from the outside. If we need to do a reverse mount, where the face of the rim needs to be gripped instead of the backside, we have rubber covers for the jaws to prevent damage. If all 5 spoke were damaged, that was from carelessness and or inexperience.
