Here's an idea for those glow sticks..make shift night lights! Use an empty cleaned out plastic milk jug filled with water and simply stick an activated glow stick in. You can use a half gallon of smaller sized jug for little ones so they can carry it around. It makes a nice ambiant light and no batteries required. Also cheap enough that you can make one for each kid, just use glow stick in their favorite color so they know it is theirs. It is also a neat 'craft project' because during the day you can let them decorate it with stickers or markers or whatever. Non toxic glow in the dark paint is awesome if you can find it for cheap!

We use the glow sticks for the kids AND the dogs. Tying one to the dogs collar allows us to see them when they bounce off into the darkness at night.

If you camp near a creek, you can put drinks or fruit in those mesh bags to keep them cold. We also love the pop up mesh laundry baskets for clothes and countless other things that need to be contained. We also use lots of solar lights around the campsite for safety and fun. A great bug repellant is a mixture of witch hazel and peppermint oil in a spray bottle. Douse everyone liberally and it feels and smells so good! I work as a nurse at a camp every year and that spray is a huge hit! Love your channel!

Another thing to put over your lines is pool noodles. You cut a slit down on side then put it over the tent line. Also I got this one from the KZbin channel Pennies into Pearls, use a cake carrier from Dollar Tree to put paper plates and napkins in so they wont blow away.

OH and one thing we do is make our own fire starters. Cotton balls and petroleum jelly.Dip half the cotton ball in the petroleum jelly and toss them in a ziplock baggie. You can find all these at a Dollar Tree all year! You only need one or two, stick them in you fire pit and lite. Also stock up on aluminum foil and duct tape. aluminum foil for cooking..wrap you food in it or cover your grill, also wad it up and clean your grill off. duct tape for a multitude of things, a hole or tear in the tent, a make shift clothes line for drying towels, clothes ect. OH and dont forget baby wipes when you are buying baby powder! I always take baby wipes with me. They are great for cleaning faces and hands, especily after making s'mores LOL or for when you need a fast freshen up when hot and sweaty or first thing in the morning or whenever. OK sorry for the long post but those are a few little tips I have learned over the years that I always do when camping.

Please do not bathe with soap in the rivers and lakes. If you must do so, at least use biodegradable soap not Ivory. Even biodegradable soap is not necessarily environmentally friendly. Many soaps also contain surfactants, which are often toxic to life in the lake, especially microorganisms and invertebrates. So if you must bathe in the river or lake, just use a washcloth & scrub. That's the recommended procedure.

Would not recommend to hit the bees that will only make them angry - just catch them and release them to the outside the usually only sting if you get them in your cloths. Also it's a good idea to have transparent drinking containers you can close so nobody shallows a bee or wasp - aluminum cans for example are really bad in that regard if you drink directly from them. (squashing wasps supposedly attracts more allready agressiv ones but since I e never do that I don't know)

Educate yourself on bees.. they're absolutely so important, if they sting you they litterally have to die to do so... Put that into perspective. Bees are so important, without them, nothing would be living. Mosquitoes, wasps, different. But a lot of bugs and insects are nothing to be afraid of. wouldn't recommend adding fear to them and pass that to your children.

I love your video, personality and children. The bug swatters I once thought were unnecessary but last time I was camping I had a couple of wasps pestering me so I'm going to get swatters now. I think using the swatter to gently remove bees is a great idea too. Glowsticks, yes, I need those when camping in the woods to find my tent again. The fan - I also take a fan because it can get sooo hot in a tent, they are lifesavers. I like paperplates too. At a recent festival we used paper plates over the top of a tin plate so we had no washing up except for just wiping our crockery with a tissue and rinsing with kettle water; there were no washing up facilities so paper plates and bowls were a must. Love your suggestions and the ones on screen. Subscribed.

A dollar tree disinfectant spray and a high thread count dollar store pillow case for dirty clothes. DO NOT put dirty clothes in the pillow case with out spraying them first! It reduces bacteria growth from sweat moisture and the pillow case contains some of the odor. Of course you wouldn't spray your fine clothes but why did you take them on a camping trip in the first place. LOL.

She probably doesn’t actually even mean bees. I’m willing to bet they were yellowjackets which are the assholes that always get honeybees killed. They’re basically bee-colored wasps and tend to hang out around trash and soda spills. People really need to be educated on honeybees as they are definitely far less aggressive and far less likely to sting as they die after stinging once.
@suewootton25666 жыл бұрын
Well your sort of right but also I do think she wants her kids being stung it really hurts and it’s meant to be fun but I agree they will only sting if it is annoyed I remember when I was at ymca literally all the girls were scared of this one tiny bee and then here is me Just getting on with my own business while everyone else was freaking out about one bee it’s like they can’t hear you when you say don’t make it angry or it will sting you jeez some people are so over reactive also not trying to be rude to any city people but I was mainly the city people who were freaking out thinking it was a tiny yellow and black striped king John un about to drop a nuke on us while all the country side people were Just used to all these bees
@dorinriki5 жыл бұрын
I've been stung twice by honeybees, plus there are many people who are severely allergic to them. While we don't want to kill bees en masse, if a single bee gets near me, it's going to die.

I am a virgin camper, this year will be my first year..,we bought a pop up. Anyway, first question why do people do dishes while camping? I get washing pots but why not use paper plates and plastics that can be recycled? Secondly, I’ve found the solar stakes at dollar tree are cute but aren’t very bright. The plain black ones sold at Walmart for $1 aren’t pretty but are a lot brighter. Just an FYI. Thanks for the video 😁
@LadybeetleMaddox6 жыл бұрын
Missy King-Deane some do use paper but it's not very cost effective. Another thing is many campers are taught to make the least amount of waste possible. So...paper vs plastic....most of us go plastic
@katbunn9576 жыл бұрын
@@LadybeetleMaddox but paper can be burned in camp fire--no waste!🤗
@LadybeetleMaddox6 жыл бұрын
@@katbunn957 This is true. But I'm thinking of literally a second set of plastic dishes that I buy once every 5 to 10 years and then recycle. While plates can be burned, you often have to use more of them. Not sure how safe the coated ones are to burn. Either way, I'm sure the long term cost savings is greater for plastic

The gold award is the girl scout equivalent please research before you say things in a video😡😡😡😡 I'm a gold award recipient life member girl scout and have been doing boy scouts for 9 years. I took massive offense. Also no fly swatter especially for bees, bees are endangered and kids need to be taught to calmly stand in place and wait for them to fly away. Garden lights take up too much space and aren't as effective as a lantern. Pool noodles work much better for making gang lines (tent support lines) more viable and safer they are reusable so you only have to buy once and your not replacing them daily decreasing the amount of trash you have to deal with. While it's great you do this with your family try only making videos that you fully know the subject matter.
@Trustme-loveisallyouneed6 жыл бұрын
Wow is all I can say. She was telling is her tips for camping and you say she doesn't know the subject matter? I really hope this was just a bad say for you and that your not always so negative. She said her brother is an eaglescout and that they rock and was saying that the "girl equivalent to eagle scout" rock too, so how is that soo horrible. Just because she didn't know the proper wording? I can't get over how negative your comment was. (shaking my head in disbelieve)
@julliebratcher28396 жыл бұрын
Crystal Nutgrass because she's putting this information out there and alot of it is either wrong or bad and I'm sorry if I'm offended by someone not getting something which I worked very hard for. Right her first tip is giving fly swatters to children 😲 to kill bees.... The solar lights are a trip hazard there are so many better videos some of these are actually dangous swatting at bees isn't just bad for the environment (since bees are endangered) but it can be deadly if someone is highly allergic to bees and gets stung especially if they are a child who you don't know is allergic could easily be fatal... and the solar lights kids run in camp it's what they do no matter how much they are told not to a lantern produces more light one with a rechargeable solar battery hung up would be way safer
