I hang the just-washed wet items on wooden racks and plastic hangers on door frames. When nearly dry, I put them into the dryer with dryer balls to finish drying, making them fluff and wrinkle -free. Saves $$$ on the electrity bill.

Before I retired, I owned a cleaning business. We cleaned residential and commercial spaces. I made sure that we did most of our cleaning with vinegar and baking soda. It was effective, cheaper, and avoided any allergies that clients might have. The only thing we used on tougher dirt was occasionally we used a little Dawn dish soap (great for any greasy stain) and sometimes a Magic Eraser. Both of those things were expensive when you were doing multiple properties each day. I found that "elbow grease" was the best thing to use.

@trinaweber9660 When I first started, it was just my son and I. Once we got going, I hired some of my friends to work with me. We had such great fun working together! I didn't really spend much on "marketing" except to print business cards. I made up flyers at home, and my son and I went around putting them in mailboxes. "Word of mouth" was the best advertising. I always offered a discount for seniors. I put a flyer in every mailbox of a house with a "For Sale" sign on the lawn, offering a 2 hour clean on the morning of their open house. That did mean working on a Saturday morning, but I usually did those myself. Once a client was established on a regular schedule, I offered them a free cleaning for each referral that resulted in another regular client. My commercial clients all came from referrals. We had some clients that owned "student housing" at the local university and wanted just a one-off cleaning when the students moved out. They were awful! I quickly learned to charge ALOT for that service. I found the biggest secret was to do a GREAT job and don't turn down any work if you can fit it in somewhere on your schedule. I found that in no time at all, I had more work than we could handle and had a waiting list! Good luck!

Elbow grease is your body. I had double carpal tunnel surgery after 18 years cleaning houses. I was fine after the surgery but I would never kill my body for money. So many people hate the smell of vinegar so I don’t use that. I like blue dawn soap and magic erasers a lot.

@GoodVibes19976 күн бұрын
I grew up in Europe and there are drying racks In every household with laundry drying all the time, because it takes a while and depending on family size. You get used to it having panties, bras, shirts constantly nearby displayed, because most people really don't have the space except their living space. I still do hang drying for certain garments when the care label calls for it, but I love my dryer and when my European family visits they insist on using it. 😂😂

You can use small bits of leftover food to make burritos or wraps. Leftover mashed potatoes can be made into potato cakes ,fried potatoes or French fries can be chopped up and reheated in a skillet ,add a bit of sausage ,bacon, egg, cheese or taco sauce makes a good breakfast burrito . Bulk cooking chili,soup,meatloaf ,taco meat or bbq and freezing in single serving portions can be a quick easy meal instead of going out to eat.

I agree. I also live alone. Everything that I don't eat quickly gets frozen for another meal later. I'm curious. My son was born in 1989 and he reacted terribly to Huggies’ disposable diapers so had to also use cloth diapers which needed to be double rinsed and yes he survived. I also wondered if he was toilet trained faster because of cloth vs disposable diapers because he didn’t like a wet diaper. 😉 yup, those safety pins could be brutal and I’d run the point through my hair to help them go through the diaper easier. 😁

I've had similar issues buying too much produce that doesn't last. I buy for specific recipes, but then the dish lasts 2-3 meals. I've learned to cut back on produce, and also research what freezes well to use in another future dish. As soon as I get home I clean and prep veggies, like aspargus; I snap off the bottoms, place in a jar with a little water, covered w a baggie and it lasts well over a week! Same with herbs; they can last a month if washed & dried before trimming he bottom and putting in the fridge, in glass of shallow water w a baggie cover.

Blows my mind that American's buy a house with a fridge in it. The only whitegoods that come with our homes in Australia is the dishwasher IF the house has one. We have to buy our own fridges. Do washing machines and dryers stay with a house too? The hoa thing about clothes lines outside, again blows my mind.
@karenrobertson194416 сағат бұрын
In Canada, most houses are offered without the appliances (white goods) in the asking price, leaving some room to negotiate them to stay if the buyer wants them. I suspect it's similar in the USA.

Whatever was still in a serving bowl was eaten before anybody left the table. Someone said they'd eat the corn; somebody said they'd eat the potatoes, etc. , etc. No way to safely save food from one meal to the next. Even though we lived on a ranch - no electricity, no running water - we had very small servings of meat. and only one small serving per person was cooked.
