As for Sam, I hardly doubt the producers of OL would force him back into a mythical closet to just to have him keep up his "hunk" status on the show. I had thought we were more progressed than that. If Sam is gay and doesn't want to bring it out, it's his business. If he's hetero and just doesn't want his personal life out there, I applaud him. We as fans don't have the right to know everything about a person. Considering how a feeding frenzy descended on actor Victor Garber by rabid "Alias" fans who refused to believe he was gay and only turned their backs on him once they found out he was not only gay, but married to the beautiful Rainer Andriessen, I cannot blame Sam if he does chose to not "hide in a closet" but keep his private life, private.

This is beautiful, it captures all the nuance and complexity of their relationship. These two are honestly my favourite pairing in the whole show, not necessarily in a shippy way (although that too sometimes) but in how beautiful their friendship is. John remains devoted and in love with Jamie even when he knows it can never be but instead of becoming embittered he is loyal and gracious. Jamie owes John so much and John is perhaps the one who knows Jamie the best besides Claire. They have a child together essentially, and they’ve saved one another over and over again. There’s something deep and moving whenever these two are in a scene together. The writers didn’t simplify their relationship, they kept it as messed up and difficult and loving as it is in the books which I am so grateful for. This video captures all of that so thank you so much for making it!

When playing chess at Helwater, when Jamie asks him to be a father to Willie (he looks disappointed when John turns him down), In the book, Jamie kisses him on the lips), when they meet in Jamaica and they stare at each other when Jamie and Claire enter John’s office during the reception, and when LJG shows up at the Ridge with William (among others.) They hold eye contact the way the enamored do; straight men don’t do any of that with each other. I actually think Jamie is bi, but the horror he experienced at Randall’s hand drove him from it. My gaydar was at five-alarm fire loudness.

A sexless marriage for a young 20th century woman? I don't think so. He is much more likeable in the books than the show, and really goes through hell, poor guy. All the same, I love John Grey best of all - a very desirable man, though not the right orientation for her. As friends, very interesting chemistry though.

I could not believe my eyes when David Berry was first introduced. A truly gorgeous man. And his eyes? Jamie and John’s scenes are wonderful. Great acting. I love this version of John Grey better than is portrayed in the books.

I've been reading the Lord John series lately (up to Brotherhood of the Blade) and they show a very different Lord John than in the Outlander (TV) series and in some ways Outlander books (up to the Fiery Cross so far). Season 4 makes him just seem like a leisurely aristocrat, who has a knack of saving the day in social situations, is a sympathetic friend and gentleman, but otherwise just swans about at dinner parties and plays chess. In the Lord John books, he is a very physical guy, a man of action who has tons of adventures, many mishaps, investigates crimes and spies, is frequently assaulted, is called a 'beast' by his lover, ruins his clothes, and is unafraid of getting his hands dirty (physically, not morally), all while also turning up to parties stylish, well-groomed, warm and charming. His mother tells him 'he will be the death of her', lol! He also has an insanely curious and nimble mind, and is a real student of human nature, very empathetic. It would be so interesting to see David Berry play him in the spin-off series - it would give him great scope, and I believe he could pull it off brilliantly!

@@maestroclassico5801 He's gay, and in the LJ series has tested the possibility he could be attracted to women by sleeping with prostitutes, but found there was nothing there. He does appreciate the physical beauty and charm of women though. I've read up to early in A Breath Of Snow and Ashes, so I don't know yet if he might have some dormant bi stuff going on, though someone on a book site suggested he shows a growing attraction to Clare, which is shown most in Echo in the Bone. An interesting thought, but I tend to doubt it. In all the books he is a very honorable and generally kind man, more so in fact than the TV series when he actually behaves like a bit of a dick at Ardsmuir (and that Jamie-on-a-rope-to-horse thing - never happened in the books). He has moments of really disliking Claire early esp in books. Well, that's more than you asked for, but I love this character, he's so interesting!

@@maestroclassico5801 he's gay. Diana herself has already said that. It was common and social expected at that time for men to be only with women, so in many situations homossexual men had to do that, but it doesn't mean they were bi.
