Sabetta Airport wis a small airport located in Russian Arctic, in Yamal Okrug (State) on the Yamal Peninsula. It was built and is managed by Novatec, sexond largest producer of LNG (Liquified Natural Gas). The airport was constructed between 2012 and 2014 as a result of strategic development planning of Novatec for the region, after acquisition of the Yuzhno-Tambeyskoye gas field and Yamal LNG plant. There is another airport 170km west from Sabetta owned by Gazprom (Bovanenkovo, USDB), but due to possible difficulties in connecting the Yamal LNG plant with airport 170km away a new airport was built. USDA has officially been licensed for aircraft operations in October 2015, however UtAir opened first regular flight to Sabetta in March the same year.
