I got my VFR private pilots license in 1983 and haven't flown since 1986. Back then, we flew with a map in our lap. I'm new to flight simulators and thought I would never figure out how to use modern navigation equipment in general aviation aircraft, but your series of tutorials are the first ones I've found that give me hope. Very well done!

You produce BY FAR the best videos on the subject. I have seen tons of other tutorials/sim vids but they do not even come close to your standards. Voice, contents, screen views etc. ... you've nailed them all. I thank you Sir for taking the time and professionalism for your vids. You deserve to have million subscriptions. You are an outclass.

I could not agree more. I wish I could explain things as clearly as this guy does. There are so many bad / inaccurate videos on this topic that don't go into the depth you really need. And this presenter makes it look so easy. Can't wait to watch more.

Kip, what a terrific explanation of the Garmin 530 navigation instrument. Even though I am using X-Plane 12 for my flight sim, what you taught me here was the clearest every explanation of the G530. I've watched several others on the same G530 but yours is by far the clearest for me to understand. Thank you, thank you!

Holy shit! This is amazing! I tried downloading the Garmin 530/430 simulator but it didn't work on Windows 10. Searched KZbin but all the tutorials were terrible. Then I came across yours and it made using GPS a breeze. Thank you!

Do you know how to turn off intersections on both 530 and 430? The screen is very busy with all them on there.
@KipOnTheGround3 жыл бұрын
You can cycle through the de-clutter settings by just pressing "CLR" when on the map screen, but in MSFS the default 530/430 only has 2 states. I think the second one might only hide small airports or something -- not totally sure. You could try out the 530/430 community mod here: github.com/pimarc/pms50-gns530 I think it has extra de-clutter states that'll give you some more options to choose from.

This is a brilliantly explained video on using the C172/Garmin 530/430. I watched and followed along in my flight sim. Now, those intimidating computers next to the steam gauges are not so daunting. I agree with xtek that you have a gift here and hope to see more, especially with the C172 and other single engine models in MSFS2020.

The two videos on the autopilot & G530 interface were fantastic. Very well done. I'm a private pilot with 800 hrs, but haven't flown for a while. Between MSFS2020 and your tutorials, the rust is coming off fast! Thanks...... extremely well presented.

Kip, thank you thank you thank you for this video and all of your others. I have been struggling for months to understand and master the 530/430 and was beginning to feel quite stupid. Thanks again.

😀Hi Good morning from U K, just the help i am looking for ,have just bought the BEECHCRAFT D 18 and while i can use the G1000NXI up to a point the 530 seems quite a challenge being the only option in that plane. Your tutorial is very well done, so clear and much appreciated putting all the time and effort in making it. One of the best features of MSFS is the help you more experienced flyers give makes it so much more pleasure to use. The navigation in this latest sim is so much more advanced compared to my first use in F S 95. The comments below say it all thankyou.

Thank you for this was looking for some help with the 530 especially now using Vatsim snd have to input new approach for eg from atc on the fly! Interesting the tips u pick up -ie scrolling with ur mouse wheel to change inputs vs chasing arrows on gps - Ctrl 1 and 2 shortcuts snd also adding all the additional waypoints etc on main global flight simulator page using filter - always wondered why that map never showed all the points that I would see say in sim brief or sky vector ! Thank you

Kip, great video. I know it's been a while since you created this video. On both 530 and G1000, I cannot modify the flight plan (i.e. remove a waypoint entry using the clear button). You seemed to have an issue on the video as well but you got out (by holding CLR) and coming back in to CLR and it worked for you. For me it doesn't, no matter how many times I try it. I have to delete the whole flight plan and start again, grrr.

If you're on PC, you could give this 530/430 mod a try, hopefully it'll fix some of the bugs you're running into. It also adds some new feature like a terrain and traffic map: github.com/pimarc/pms50-gns530
