VR even on the quest 2 is infinitely better now than when it was first enabled in the sim. Both because of sim optimization and because of work that oculus has done. What are your current recommendations for settings on quest 2?

I tried VR with a reverb G2, while I loved the 3d immersion effects, I could not get a clear image of the instruments etc without leaning right in to the panel. I think the Varjo Aero is the clearest image out there, I might try again in a few years.

I built an entire sim rig JUST to play this in VR. After update 11, when VR stopped working, I only started the sim to see if VR was working yet. My favorite thing is that everything has depth and scale. You can do REALLY close formation flying in VR. BTW, it's working for me again now, but I still get a popup that says MSFS does not support VR when I start it.

I once borrowed a Oculus Quest 1 to see what the Flight Sim 2020 VR fuss was all about promoted by Pie in the Sky and Mark of SimHangar and shortly afterwards I bought my own Quest 2 and now I find it impoosible to fly my favorite Working Title Cessna CJ4 without the VR headset. VR is fantastic!!!

Once into VR, never out of it anymore. I got a bulk load of pancake games in my steam library and don’t play any of them even anymore. If it ain’t VR then…no go ;) Everything around it is also getting more and more immersive as well. MSFS, iRacing and games like Half Life Alice, The Wanderer, The Dark Room, Red Matter 1 and 2 etc etc, they are all out of this world. I’m even seriously considering DOF Reality P3 even at the moment to get even more immersed

I only fly in vr and it is truly great but it is also easy to overdo it. I do not use controllers at all, but I find a good trackball type mouse is imperative. With the trackball you can always find the trackball cause it does not move. Also it is most advantageous to use as few buttons as you can because you rely on muscle memory to locate these. It is much easier to locate a switch using the mouse inside VR. The best bit about this is there is very little setting up and that means few profiles. I find it most convenient to do most of my flight plan and setting up in 2d switching to VR at time of take off. My system is i9 11900k, 64Gig ram, 2 x 1T m2, rtx3080ti, Varjo aero VR headset and a Kensington expert trackball (this is great because it can be configured left hand or right hand to suit your layout). Not saying my setup will suit everybody but it is the best I can find for me. Hope this helps and by the way great info again mate.

I love the G2 and at 60hz I can run it without motion reprojection and crystal clear gauges using TAA and is silky smooth even at low altitude. I had the Aero but since I have a small head it did not fit well so I sold it. The G2 is very close to the quality of the Aero using the OpenXR toolkit. I use the size setting of 100 and sharpening at 90 with NIS. LeadZeppelin

I bought 4090 for my HP G2 and got crazy smooth after 3080TI. But now there is another problem. I want sweat like Vario Aero!!! PMDG 738 in VATSIM - 48-60 FPS on custom airports.

I did not want to get to vr too early. I jump with rtx 2060 and quest 2. It's the limit of acceptable I think. Its till cost a good amount of money unfortunately

My biggest issue with my quest 2 and msfs2020 is that the screens like g1000 and gs3 are hard to read when in vr. Is there any way to clean up those screens and make them easier to see? They look somewhat blurry. I am running almost the exact specs you have for your pc.

I often wonder how widespread VR use will be in the next 10-20 years. It will obviously get better and better, and be adopted more, but I'm still having a hard time envisioning it getting mass adoption. I think the term VR will eventually get rebranded in favor of AR at some point as well. The name VR has too many negative conatations with the masses. I think that's a big part of why VR is still widely unpopular or misunderstood. When AR gets to the point of being a smart phone in glasses form, with the added AR....... that will be the future. Then eveything changes.I think even pcvr VR will go totally wireless fairly soon, and will look amazing, but they'll be a distinct difference over people who game in VR and those who live and work in AR

You should check out a video Mark from SimHanger channel made a while ago on what you can do to prevent feeling sick. To be honest, in the beginning when I was using a racing sim I got sick as well after 5 minutes. In MSFS never. For a flying sim everything above 30FPS should not make you sick. A racing sim however you should aim to the full 90FPS or more if the HMD supports it. Some regular games sometimes can put you off as well when walking running and turning. Most often these games have setting where the movement can be done differently and that might help you. The problem is that your brain cannot cope with visually moving without feeling it with your balance thing in the ears. The brain goes bananas because of that. You can also train your self though by taking little steps meaning in case you start noticing nausea then stop directly and pick it up again the next day and again and again. Within several weeks you will notice you can do longer and longer sessions. Of course a motion simulator can help. The movements do not even be that big, it should give you a sense of g-forces and your brain likes it already much better

The most common cause of nausea in vr is incorrect IPD (Inter Pupillary Distance) setting, this is the distance between pupils of your eyes. If your headset does not measure this automatically you need to get this accurately measured. I got my opticians to measure it for me. No gretaa issues with nausea after setting it.
