When I look at these old videos I get a little sad....I went to a concert 2 years ago in Gatlinburg, TN, to see Loretta Lynn in concern. She had to be walked to a chair that she sat down to sing the whole concert and when i was time for her to leave she had to have help getting up and to walk. I hate watching age and time take them all away one by one but my age group is next. I hope we can leave behind good music for the younger generation but I just do not know if they will every appreciate it because this is one messed up world we are in now. God Bless us all!

I intend to sing this song for my dad's funeral (he is not yet dead, 93 and still chuggin' along!). There are so many great covers of this song. It will live on forever! Thank you, MsGlen.

Love the Wilburn Bros. Watched their tv show every time it was on yrs ago. While both men sang great, Teddy was an awesome singer carrying on after Doyle's passing. A shame they are not in the Hall of Fame.

This song was played at June Carter's memorial service on may 15, 2003. And four months later Johnny cash died in September. So sad.

Respect to the Stanley brother but in all honesty I think I like this version of the song the best :) Loretta's voice is beautiful and all 3 of them sound good in harmony

You say Ms. Loretta sounds great in this and she does and that she belts on it, but little do you know that this song was performed even better in earlier years performance of this song by these same three singers together. It was performed at a higher key than this and that's when it did Loretta more justice. She was really belting it then and it sounded fantastically glorious! I do not know why they decided to lower the key for this time and other times too of this song. I wish that we can see and hear the performance I speak of but it has not yet been uploaded to the internet. It was shown in the late 1990's or early in the millineum on satellite tv's The Outlaw Channel which I think doesn't exist anymore. I have the performance on video cassette from an older friend who taped it from a time when there was a thing called Webtv and he could view the program. For him, for some reason the video image of the programming was very fuzzy on his Webtv but the audio was better but not that better. So, I have the performance but the audio quality is poor but we can still hear Loretta's dynamic singing in it and it was absolutly beautiful. Imagine how it would sound if it were good quality audio.

This is a lovely classic version of the song. Comparisons are always odious, but if you love this version, browse across to Joan Baez and Jefferey Shurtleff's version; different but wonderful too....

James Dylan Microphones back then we're really sensitive. They could pick up everything. Look at some of Johnny Cash's performances. You can hear his guitar even though it's not plugged in.

Using one microphone for euphonious effect, was the way they did things in those days.
