I do like the idea of this series. Sometimes you just can't be sure when it comes to reviews on KZbin. Someone may have a nice well laid out channel and their videos may look nice but important details can be left out. Hats off to you sir for coming up with this idea.

I think the big reason this kind of video is fantastic is that you're going to go out of your way to cover things that AREN'T covered in a typical review, so watching both will give people a truly full review of the product (in theory, of course). I'm looking forward to more of these. :D

I've had this laptop for 4 years now. Over time it has gotten some wear and tear obviously. The LED's in the keyboard pretty much can only make red, green, and orange now, the palm rest is starting to come apart from the bottom, my hinges seized up (which was fixable), and my CPU fan died recently but it was replaced and is now working fine again. Overall the laptops internals are still fine and working and the gaming experience is still great. It is a bit outdated by this point but I have loved everything about this system. Recently when I had the fan replaced I made sure to get the thermal compound replaced as well. As long as you know what you're doing when you open up this system there won't be any problems! For 2015 it was a very solid system. Mine's still going for now!

Just bought this 2 months ago in germany for about 1150 € with 3 years of warranty and the msi gaming backpack.... Absolutely worth it, runns CAD (NX 9) and all the games I own very smooth :) Just starting and loading at the beginning sucks, so def worth an SSD upgrade! quiet a little heavy for an allday laptop for university, because of the power suply .....

thanks paul. i've already done my hw and plan on purchasing this pc (amazing performance considering the price!) but wanted to see it in a video. i know very little about gaming (on a pc... used to gaming consoles until ~ 15 years ago) but do plan on using it for gaming here & there... so i found your examples informative. i'm not familiar with how to change the performance settings, so that'd been nice if you'd included that or referenced a 'how to'... but i understand a majority of your audience are experienced gamers so they're well aware. while i am not necessarily opposed to reviewing a review, i think that you'd of done ok reviewing it 'yourself'... but there'd been nothing wrong with recommending other reviews and/or stating what other reviewers stated. hence, you could have taken 'the best' from a number of reviews. also, as a summary might've been useful for you to briefly compare it to similarly priced gaming laptops. just my thoughts, but i'm no expert! regardless, well done.

I enjoyed the review and the fact that you showed the internals swayed me to buy this laptop over asus and other msi offerings. As an architecture major I need to run lots of programs at once, and have plenty of file storage. Ordered this model with 8GB more ram and one SSD to start out with. Over the summer I will do a RAID configuration at some point

To be honest, if you are buying a laptop in 2016, you definitely should not be looking at a 965m anyway, mine is a 970m GTX, and that is the minimum i would recommend. That plays most things at max/near max. Next year it will struggle. The 965m struggled to play anything at max LAST year. Get a laptop with Nvidias Pascal architecture.

The way people talk about these laptop GPU's and act as though it is a matter of choice and not budget really baffles me. 'Just get a laptop with Pascal architecture' they are also about 300-400 pounds (GBP) more expensive, don't speak as though money is a non-factor.

We say NO to non-removable batteries in gaming laptops!!! JUST NO!!! Please like if you agree so MSI, Asus, Alienware and the other gaming-laptop labels take notice. These laptops are expensive and we would like them to last at least 4-5 years before changing them! Integrated batteries significantly reduce this lifespan.

Having so many dimm and m.2 slots inside available then putting a warranty void sticker over one of the screws is a ridiculous and unacceptable thing. Not to mention including a 4k DP output and not a Bluray ROM nor a gpu that is even remotely capable of 4k is a waste, would have preferred an HDMI port as DP appears a bit of an overkill for this device as it will never use the bandwidth of a DP properly.

i bought it last month, the apache pro model with i7 6700hq, gtx970m, 16 gb ddr4 2133mhz ram and 1tb hdd. Added an ssd screwing up the warranty and the laptop started to shine, really high performing machine. Gaming capability is comparable with a desktop gtx 770, maybe a bit higher cause the 3gb of ram of the gtx970m. the only cons i really have to admit is the poor battery capacity: she ends in 1hour of general usage without battery saver, 2 hours with it.

Cool idea I just think you should include more review of reviews. I would rather see comparison between different laptops from multiple manufactures. It would be nice too see build quality, and how effective he cooling solutions are because one gtx 970m is going to have similar fps from laptop to laptop.

I just wanted a laptop that did all a laptop should do PLUS could run a game once in a while... when it does start to feel warm, just hit the fan boost button for 5 min and it's amazing how effective it is...

+Francisco Muñoz Ramirez The build is good. But if you have laptop closed and you push at the top on the back (where dragon logo is) you hear a clicky noise. Thats the trackpad. It s the left or right mouse click. But if you want a laptop wich is fast and affordable, then its a really good laptop. I play gtav at high, not very high at 40 fps. The fans are not loud but when you push the fan button it goes at 5700 rpm!!! It s really good to cool the laptop quickly. If you have some more questions you can ask me!
