I noticed on mine anyway, that the first time removing the back some of the screws were hard to take completely out because they were installed at the factory with blue thread locker, so as long as you are certain they are completely unscrewed you can pop the back off then finish taking them out. Just be careful of the screws falling out and dropping them onto the floor. They are small and will of course disappear...

I own an GE73VR. It is really pain in the ass to open and close the back cover. If you do this more that 4-5 times, then for sure back cover will hang loose and tear the plastic connections aside. MSI, Please change the open/ close design for this series of computers !!! It is more easy for me to dismantle my TV appliance, instead the back cover of MSI computers. Learn from HP. Much more easy to access HDD and memory components. One more complain is the build quality of the plastics. Need much more improvement.

ive been looking into it lately. from what i found out, fans like www.ebay.com/itm/New-For-MSI-GE62-GE72-GL62-GL72-PE60-PE70-Series-CPU-Cooling-Fan-Parts-/191944322523?hash=item2cb0c5eddb:g:3UIAAOSwV0RXraBB actually will work. it looks different, but thats because the part you would see inside the pc like at 5:00 in the video is actually attached to the heatsink. the part i linked on ebay is just the bottom part that you see at around 8:54 from there, you will need to remove the part like shown in the video and reassemble it. just be careful when cleaning the thermal grease off. you WILL need to apply some new grease. just put a small amount, a bit smaller than a pea on the areas and let the heatsink spread it around when reapplied. ive yet to replace mine, but i will be doing it myself soon. the technician i tried talking to never got back to me. EDIT: just a side note, but be wary of buying fans with the heatsink attached. compare the one in this video to this one. www.ebay.com/itm/CPU-Cooler-Fan-And-Heatsink-For-MSI-GE72-GE62-PAAD06015SL-0-55A-5VDC-N302-N303-/262651844979?hash=item3d27451973:g:cv8AAOSwmLlX7yfA this one looks the same, but theres one problem. this one is too short. notice how the metal for the right fan in the video is stretched outwards and doesnt follow the outline like on the left? try to buy the fans that are just the fans by themselves. those should be 2 fan pieces and thermal grease included to reapply if you dont have your own. look into grounding so you dont shock the motherboard and avoid using metal when trying to scrape off the old grease.

When I asked on the MSI forums the replies weren't clear. One explanation stated that the warranty sticker is for those who just really shouldn't be opening a laptop. Another said that yes it will. Yet another said that tending to your fans or adding RAM yourself doesn't void it. MSI Support didn't answer me back. If you do it, and it's ridiculously easy btw, just make sure you follow the video step by step, and you will not fuck it up. That was my first time doing anything like that, took me about an hour or so and I have cooler temps than when I bought it. I'm using Artic Silver 5 Thermal Paste. The warranty is for manufacturer defects. As long as you state you just cleaned the fans you should be fine. It will ultimately be up to MSI at that point though.

Since I've done this my fans are turning really fast for a while and then stop. And then start turning fast again. It seems that my CPU and GPU temperature are wrong, what kind I do to fix that?

left fan is idling in a mid 2000 range and sounds like the bearings are Fracked. I'm quite upset as I have not had the laptop for long. the fans to replace are about 45 bucks for the pair, which isn't terrible, but they're from Hong Kong so that's a month out. between that and needing anti static wristband and the time to replace the fans, I'm pretty mad.

If you use compressed air blowing in from the exhaust side would accomplish the same thing, no need to disassemble the fan

Насчет термопасты, уже есть такой припой который плавится при 85 градусов. Мой коллега работает с ним, правда в других целях использует, не буду раскрывать коммерческую тайну. Но в целом скоро термопасты будут заменены именно на такой припой.

You too huh, yeah I've had mine replaced by a tech repair company. MSI keyboards suck, right after I replaced it, it only took a few months for a key to fall off due to normal use. Can't these computers have better keyboards. I regret throwing away the manual. I love my computer but damn, it is so hard to maintain without knowledge on computer assembly.

Any one know what to do when those two wires disconnect from that metal plate on top of the left fan ? I saw them kind of dangling when i went to put my fan back in and im wondering if that has anything to do with my computer suddenly being un able to pick up any wifi.
@amanakmal7 жыл бұрын
yeah it's the connection for the wifi card. You just have to connect them back. It's not that easy (it's very small) but it can be done.
