Thanks for your review. So I am looking to use this Laptop as I enter into an early retirement and had to return my company laptop. I want a FAST computer, more for editing photos and videos and a good storage capacity for those items. I will also be using it for streaming movies in an RV. My husband and I will be moving into an RV this next year or two tp travel around the US. I may or may not start gaming now that I have free time to what ever I want.... what are your thoughts? With the items I have mentioned I will be using it for will the the thermal issue not really be something to be concerned with?? I have looking at either 32GM or 16GB models.

Awesome, thanks for sharing! Sounds like a new exciting chapter of life! I would do a 17" model, if you want the fasteres I would look at Alienware R4, the newest gaming version. It will offer you what you need I think.

I think the Ge75 will have better cooling, however this unit was at its limits due to the config. I found I preferred the aesthics of the Ge66 myself over the Ge75 and the lighter weight.

Thanks for this great video! I noticed on 2:34 you talked about the windows and FN key, but you are pressing the SSE quick launch button and it looks like it doesn't work. Does it work or not? Mine stop working and it changed the different lights on the keyboard, not anymore. Any help will be appreciated.

@@kjkhkkjkjk5768 hey yes I have this exact model! I actually I don’t feel like I’m getting 100% performance either. I mostly use mine for video/photo editing with the Adobe suite but my partner uses it for gaming daily. It seems to crash/freeze a lot even with her strict eye on what’s being downloaded and how it’s running with only less than half of the memory used. I’ll have to check in with her later and report back to you!

Another great review. I find it odd that the thermal performance isn't that great even with the 2080 super MP in a thicker chassis. The cooling solution and paste job must not be too good. How was the screen on this unit? I couldn't find this exact configuration, I did find one with a 300Hz panel for $2,649. If you don't mind me asking...how much was this unit? Keep up the good work bud!

It’s a shame that they include a 150w 2080 and didn’t give the option of disabling optimus! I think it doesn’t worth it especially with this horrible battery life, you can get similar or even better performance and battery life with a Msi gs75 or an Asus zyphras s 17

I haven't tested those, but the biggest draw back here is that is slams into the thermal ceiling when gaming.

Is the brightness of the rgb keyboard a bit dim? Ive heard from the reviews of the GE66 raider that the rbg keyboard is dim.

It isn't too bad, certainly not that bright when you are in well lit rooms. However works well otherwise.

This is the old 8 core. The new core i9 10885h is far better. With faster clocks. At 5.3ghz. I believe this one is 4.8ghz?

It's pointless as it already reaches thermal limits. I would get this one and limit the turbo at around ~4ghz to keep it cool and quiet.

This review is a few months old, but Costco has this laptop for 1,200 with the RTX2070. For that price I think I'm willing to use a cooler under it. I don't know of a better deal for these specs but if you, or someone does, let me know!

i need some help and im hoping maybe you can help me. im stuck between getting this laptop and the alienware m17 r3. i really like both but im not sure which to choose. this is the first time im getting a gaming laptop and so im not sure which to choose! im more on the alienware side solely for the design and thermals (ive done some of my own studying and saw that its better than what it used to be)

For any people thinking about getting this MSI Ge75 you should also know that the paint on the keys do wear off quickly. I’ve had mines for about 3-4 months, and probably 4+ hours of use per day, and the paint on WASD has started coming off

You didn't mention the complains about the hinges and the back light issue with the screen. That's a deal breaker for a gamer ironically. I was this close to getting it from costco, good thing I read the reviews.

Sounds like some QA issues. I didn't have any hinge issues or noticeable backlight bleed on my unit. What are you going to look at instead?

I don’t know if you’re into this stuff, it’s a bit risky, but you can flash a 200W 2080S vbios to get more than 150W on the GPU. The Raider is a laptop that can actually run relatively cool even with 180W in the cooler boost mode. Risky but there’s a notable difference. I don’t know if it’s something you’d cover though.

I was reading about this. I was going to do it but when the thermals were basically always capped I thought better of it. This unit would need a repaste to really take advantage of it.

@@CETechTips it just needs a repaste and undervolt. Search Amazon. "Cooler Master New Edition MasterGel Maker Ultra-High Performance Nano-tech Diamond Particle Thermal Paste" it keeps my GPU at around 75c and brought CPU temps down 15-20c. I have i7 10750 w/2080s btw.

Hi I have the exact same laptop, but mine never uses 150w for the GPU. Instead it uses on average 85-95w with a GPU temp of around 84-86 degrees. I think I technically know why it never uses 150w, because CE TECH TIPS kind of filled in the puzzle for me, but I still want to know why you think my GPU only uses about 63% of its power. Also my Gpu is suppose to have a base clock of 1360 and a boost of 1560, but I never maintain base clock speeds instead in games, sadly I go down to 1000 or sometimes hover in the 1100s or 1200s. I need to compare my laptop with others that have same specs before I can send to MSI for a check. So if you could help me I would appreciate it. I am going to perform all of the same benchmarks you did and compare my scores with yours, but I need to understand why I only use 63% of my power limit for the 2080s 150w GPU
