Tried to copy this video but had a few difficulties I would like to share, disconnecting the battery on my unit was very difficult, I found that being very careful not to short out the electronics using a flat head screwdriver twist the head so that it prys out the connector. Other difficulty was getting the side of the case with the headphone jack back on. I found gently holding the headphone jack up when sliding the cover on very helpful. Despite the difficulty i managed to upgrade the memory and storage without breaking anything. For anyone interested in the tools used i used an i fix it kit and ensured i was connected to an earth clamp while working. Best of luck😉

I tried for at least 10 minutes to remove the battery-connector without success. It comes out like 2mm then no more... I finally was afraid that i would destroy it if I used more force. So I gave it up and plugged it back in. Installed my new RAM-stick (additional 16gb HyperX) in the unused port, mounted the back on again and booted up the PC and it works just fine. The touchpad behaved like crazy when I first logged in and I was terrified that I had broken the laptop, but I started my regular mouse and all the sudden it worked like it should. I just upgraded the ram without unplugged the battery. WHOOPS! Works fine though. Make sure to turn on xmp profile in bios. For the GF65 bios you need to hold right shift + right ctrl + left alt + f2. Once you hit that itll open up the advanced bios and you will have more options. Go over to overclocking -> memory and change profile from default to 'xmp profile 1'. Boom good to go. Note i5 10500h has a max ram frequency of 2933. So if you get 3200mhz ram you will be capped to the 2933 or w/e MHz.

Nice to view. Want ask here as GF63 thin user here (1 Nvme Pcie3 x4 + 1 SATA) want to upgrade for a year. 1. Its is not possible to have that ADATA SX8200 Pro installed with supplied cooling heat sink ? , you have installed without that. Is it not enough high room to install? 2. Just for info for other MSi GF63 thin buyer, it had OpenGL driver crappy windows installed, the problem only solved by installing the clean Windows from start, can not solved by upgrade to new windows version, or install gpu driver. 3. Info: Its is supported to 64GB RAM 2666 Mhz in total. 32Gb x2. 3200Mhz ram will play on 2666 Mhz, no XMP.

Wonderful video. I actually came to your channel when you were upgrading a MSI G75 thin-17.3". Now I can't find the video. I bought the GF 75 thin with the intention of upgrading it. It has 512 GB NVME that I upgraded to 2 TB and I took out the 1 TB SATA drive and replaced it with a 4 TB SS Samsung drive. Also put in 64 GB of memory. The upgrade went very smooth, without a hitch, except there is no sound on my computer. I've read lots of posts about people not having sound after cloning their drive. Have you had any experience in this?? I used a program called Macrium Reflect, which is free. I was going to use Acronis True Image, which I bought, but I went with the macrium program on the advice of the youtuber Tech Guy Charlie. He talked through the steps and I followed his method. As I said, everything worked great and all the drives are working, just not my sound. I'd like to hear if you ever had any experience with this problem. I really don't want to have to open my laptop again and replace the drive with the original. Thanks for your help. Frank

Ah, the days when companies actually cared about users rather than maximizing the profits. Phones no longer allow you to switch batteries with ease - Apple is the worst offender, since you can't replace parts with newly purchased ones even if you wanted to - since they are all coded to a specific phone. The only way of doing it proper is by going to the apple center and getting the work done for 2/3 times the cost. Laptop manufacturers do much of the same - if you try to make any changes, you void warranty.

My battery cable was stuck to a point where I could barely move it. I ended up using the nearest tool I had to remove it, which was a nail filer. Not clever, especially that it was said that a plastic tool should be used. I accidentally touched the exposed wire ends and it made a spark/pop sound. Laptop’s dead. But at least it has 16 gigs of ram now.

Why the 2004 edition of Windows 10? If this is better some how, isn’t it overwritten the first time Windows updates are run? Curious.

Hello, Im thinking on upgrading mine now, but i got the one already with 16gb ram. I would like to upgrade to 32gb. My question is, before opening it: Does it have 1 ram of 16gb and an empty slot like with 8gb version, or 2 of 8gb using both slots? To know if i have to buy both or only 1, thanks :D

I know this is an old video but I figured I'd ask anyway. I have a similiar model msi laptop. Mine is the newer gf6 thin with the rtx 3060. Do you know if the gpu and cpu are soldered to the board? I was wondering if i could upgrade the cpu.

Hey, so I am planning on upgrading my laptop after a few years of use. If I get a sata drive and swap the Kingston in the other slot do I have to re-install windows? or would it still boot with windows 11 already installed on the stock drive?

I'm like yourself got my first gaming laptop this year as ps5 seemed a long wait away and wanted something to use with my occulus quest2. Mine only came with 253gb ssd which isnt bug enough at all. Steam also doesn't like you trying to keep some games on am external hard drive hence why i ended up here. I think with the ram you are fine to replace as long asnits compatible. Ram is more for processing memory rather than things saved on memory so you dontnmeed to make changes, your cpu will run as normal and just use the new ram for running your games and apps

I just go one of these and I would like to upgread the storge, but am not that tech. The storge it came with has 476 GB and I put Bulder's Gate 3 on and it took up a lot of that storge. So I uninstalld it.

I haven't upgraded any computers ever, but I need to upgrade the storage and add another ram to another 16gb. But I'm confused whether the barracuda 1tb SSD is right or not and whether I can combine a corsair vengeance 16 gb 2666mhz ram stick with the factory installed whatever 16 gb ram? Kindly, help to make a sound judgement for purchase.
