@@kylers7746 I just don't want the power limit to limit my cpu. I tested mine and the wattage didn't go so much higher than with default settings. I think its safe. Anyhow the temperature protection still at the default value so there is also it as protection. The temperature is also very important so be sure to stay at reasonable value.(under normal usage/gaming about 70° or lowers should be good).

The other MSI video called MSI Bios walkthrough & overclocking from Feb 2018 recommends to: - Set CPU Ratio Mode: Fixed Mode (They say it’s more stable this way even for daily basis as it doesn’t keep changing voltage etc) - CPU Loadline Calibration Control: Mode 4 (This video keeps that on auto, wonder which is actually better) - CPU Ratio Offset when Running AVX: -3 (From what I understand, not many programs use this but when they do they’re very cpu intensive hence why they recommend lowering the cpu ratio by -3 here) Everything else can be kept at auto or set to your desired voltage for the cpu. Those were the only additional differences. So what do the reviewers here think of those 3 options listed above? I know the other video was with an i5-8600k but the basics should be the same, of course except the voltage since it’s a different cpu etc.

Thanks! this guide helped me overclock my old 9700k. For some reason it won't boot Windows with XMP enabled but it handles the overclock mentioned int his guide with 1.3 v VCORE... Set memory speed to 3200 which works? confusing, but OK! :D Though it only boosts to 5 GHz during short moments. Mostly stays around 4.1 or 4.2 GHz. Guess that is due to C-states? Got cinebench r23 score of: 7928 (No OC), 8496 (With OC) and 3dmark: 6806 (Port Royal, no OC), 6812 (Port Royal, with OC) with an Arc A750. So no big wins there but it's mostly GPU based so edit: after doing some more testing I disabled the overclocks... it was throttling in Prime95, so ended up with lower CPU freqency than stock. Also tried lowering the vcore to 1.2 or 1.275 but not stable as per the previous steps in the video.

I've always had an issue ocing my 9700k to 5ghz, and haven't really found an answer. I can oc it and boot up no problem. But at random times my clock speed will drop to 4.7(the ring ratio) for a second or two, then back up to 5ghz. it seems to happen more often while playing certain games. If i oc to 4.8, this doesn't happen. It happens less at 4.9, but still happens. Does this mean I can only get it stable at 4.8 or am I doing something wrong?

Do I need to plug into the cpu pwr2 connector if i am not overclocking with an i5 9600k and only use the cpu pwr1 or does the two 8 pin cpu ports need to be connected for the processor to work?

How can I remove the power limit on this board? My 9900K won't go over 95W in use, not even for a second. Is this a bug or intentional? New BIOS, reseating the chip and manually lifting didn't do anything. What can I do? With Intel's XTU I could raise the limits. With the Auto OC button it worked as well.

I tried doing the overclocking exactly the same way, and it seemed fine, until about an hour into gaming I got a blue acreen with Windows saying there was a problem and it will now restart. Any idea what could be the issue?

Can someone here please help me? How do I stop MSI Dragon Center from overriding my BIOS' overclock settings? I wouldn't mind doing the oc through DC but for some reason DC keeps resetting the multiplier back to stock randomly (usually, but not always, after reboots). I only use DC because for some reason all the other standalone versions of Mystic Light I've tried to use won't regocnize or control the RGB on my MSI RTX 2060 Super Gaming X.

After watching your video several times I attempted to go into my BIOS by holding the delete key on Startup I was able to enable the XMP mode for the 4 Oloy 16Gb memory sticks getting them to run from 2100 to 3200 but after restart I was never able to get into the BIOS again! I tried all the traditional tricks, removing the coin battery, holding the shift key on restart and then go to troubleshoot advanced nothing but a black screen! Upon further investigation MSI told me that my Intel gold Pentium G5400 3.7 GHz processor has the multiplier locked and cannot be overclocked! Please, what's your take on this?

@busch1179 5 жыл бұрын
@@CommonSenserules1981 Wouldn't recommend 1.395. Sure it will work, but think about your cpu lifetime. Just go 4.9 Ghz, or whatever is stable with max. 1,325 V. 5 Ghz oder even stock is most of the time not that different. But it's allways good to know to have some extra power :) I'm running stock until i need more power...
@CommonSenserules1981
@CommonSenserules1981 5 жыл бұрын
@@busch1179 Yes very reasonable response. I may go back onto stock but was just wondering if I had a bad chip if that was the lowest I could go on 5 mHz. I was very disappointed as in this video it clearly states or recommends a 3.7 mHz. But that is considered high in the bios so I do not know why it was recommended. Either way it's not stable.

I have this motherboard & followed these directions to successfully overclock my CPU to 5.0Ghz 5 months ago or so but recently I accidentally pushed a bios reset button when reaching to the back of my computer & put everything back to defaults. Although I thought I'd easily just follow these directions again to redo my previous 5.0Ghz overclock Window isn't have it this time. The bios indicates the overclock worked, even when I reboot the pc & check the bios settings again, but for whatever reason Windows will only indicate the cpu running at 3.4Ghz ever since accidentally pushing the bios reset button. Anyone have any suggestions please as to what may be the problem. Thanks.

After i xmp my ram there is a red light beside my ram. Is that ok? And activating xmp put intel c state back to enable automatically
@b4uc2far95
@b4uc2far95 5 жыл бұрын
The red light on your motherboard should be an indicator that XMP is on and functioning. So it’s normal. I am using MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon and when XMP is enabled I can still disable the Intel C-State. Make sure to save the changes before rebooting. In fact, I would set up a default profile and then an overclock profile in BIOS for ease in returning to default settings if trouble is encountered during overclocking. You can easily switch between the two by loading them and saving changes to the appropriate profile. I would enable GotoBios feature as well as it will allow you to boot directly into BIOS without hitting the delete key (you merely hold the power button for four seconds during power up).
