You took out a marked "VT-Y" logical AND gate from a donor board and the one you soldered on the card was a marked "WE-3" And gate! (like the original one that's dead)🙄 Maybe you accidentally found the first one you took out from the first donor board? the one that was blown away?

Hi Frraser, I own a Zotac GTX 1070 Ti Amp! and the fans are stuck at 43%, I can change the speed in MSI Afterburner and or Firestorm but the changes are not happening on the video card. I recently cleaned it and replaced the thermal pads and thermal compound. However, I am wondering what controller is responsible the Fan's RPM/Feedback. Also the cable for the Dual Fans PWM cable looks to be fine and both are spinning. But as per the hardware I just don't know enough. Should I replace the Fans or the Fan PWM controller? If it's the controller, can you please let me know which one. Thank you much! Also I should say that both fans do spin, also when I turn on the PC they are quiet but just as windows logs in I can hear the rpm increase to the 43% and that is where it stays and can't be changed. I tried creating a custom Fan Curve but this did not work either. I also used DDU to remove and re-install the drivers and this did nothing as well. Maybe Windows is screwed up? I have a Multi-meter is there something I can test to see if this is a hardware issue? Thanks Fraser! Cheers!

Ok now this one is tricky. I do t think there's anything wrong with the GPU. If the fans are spinning after windows loads then there is a profile that is getting applied on startup. This kind of profile is either stored in softwares like after burner or firestorm. My recommendation is to start from scratch. Uninstall and clean MSI afterburner and firestorm. Make sure even the folders are gone. Last uninstall Nvidia drivers and reboot system. Let Nvidia drivers get installed again. Then test the fan speed.

So i was checking the schematics for the 1070Ti. now the fan connector has 4 pins (1 to 4) pin 4 is ground, pin 3 is 12V, and pin 1 and 2 connect to a Schottky diode on each and also connect to directly to the GPU core. The PWM for the fan is controlled by the GPU core on pin 1 of the fan header. SO pin 1 of the fan header is connected to a 1K resistor and the GPU core and the other side is connected to 3.3V. Pin 2 of the fan header is connected to a 10K resistor and the GPU core and the other side of the resistor is connected to 3.3V. So there are only 2 things that can go faulty in this case. Either the resistor connected on either pin 1 or pin 2 has gone high or the connection on pin 2 to the core is broken or the PWM on the core controlling the fan is faulty. This is assuming that there is a hardware fault. If you have another PC I would test this GPU on that and check if it has the symptoms.

I do have another PC and will install it on the other PC to see if the behavior persists. But at least I know understand the logic of this connector going forward. Once again, Thank you so much. I have planned to change the lens of the microscope. The current camera I'm using is a mobile phone which I'm using to capture the video outside the capture card. The issue is my HDMI port in the motherboard got popped so I'm using the DVI to HDMI converter but my capture card is not capturing the image from the converter but has no issues capturing from the HDMI port directly. I will either replace the motherboard or fix the HDMI port of the motherboard when I get time and that should solve the issue. Thank you for highlighting. 😁
