Thank you for sharing. Yes there are games which will utilise more than 11Gb and this upgrade will be useful. Furmark is not useful to check memory utilisation. I tested for stability. In fact I did not expect a huge interest from a small channel like mine. Normal test I do for repairs, I ran for this upgrade as well. But I will include the right tests like OCCT and others in my future videos. Thank you once again 😁

Both the RX 6000 and 7000 series of GPU's from AMD already use 2GB memory modules. 2gb is the highest capacity on GDDR6 and 6X memory. They cannot be upgraded further.

Unfortunately the 1070 cannot be upgraded. It uses GDDR5 memory and on the GDDR5 and 5X the largest capacity memory module produced is 1GB and it has only 8 memory slots. 😁

One channel is disabled from the core as 2080Ti does not use the full die. It can be upgraded only up to 22GB.

It cannot be upgraded. None of the AMD GPUs can be upgraded. They all use 2gb modules. That's the largest capacity module produced so far.

NO. 3060 already uses the Samsung 2Gb module. there are no slots left. the open slots are disabled from the core.

The BIOS already has support for 22GB memory on 2080 Ti and 16GB for 2070, and 2080

It can be done but the cost of upgrading is too high for what this GPU can do. The core is too weak to utilise anything more than what it has. For the price of the upgrade you get a faster GPU. 😁

Currently, there are lot of hiccups with the 30 series upgrades like crashes and other issues. until I can figure out a workaround I would not recommend it.

The failed one is MODS. The one used later is MATS which passed. Sometimes MATS and MODS can really act funny. So you will have to judge based on the results. With experience you will start to make right calls.

The gray pads you are referring to are pads that are missing. The pads were ripped off but since they were not connected pads it did not matter. 😁

Only those graphics cards have a BIOS switch which has a dual BIOS. Each BIOS chip has a separate setting. basically power and fan curve.

What does mods show? If you have nvmt run that too and then with the collective information a decision can be taken. Most likely it may need a core reball.

Well it's a long story but I will keep it short. I have been designing circuits boards and repairing audio devices and many other electronics devices for over 20 years. Most of those years were spent as a hobby rather than service. Designing my own power supply and other stuff. The graphics cards started about 6 years ago when I moved to the UAE and wanted to build my gaming PC here. Graphics cards were sold at a premium and I did not have the funds to buy one. So I put an AD to buy broken GPU. Watched a couple of videos of elitech and fixed both the GPU I bought 1070 and rx580. I sold one. I then started buying broken graphics cards fixing them and selling them. I started building my equipment slowly over the months there after and It's only about a year later I started offering GPU repair as a service. I started my own KZbin about 9 months ago in a bid to make my presence felt and showcase my work in my locality. Looks like it's just a start and let's see where this path takes me.

For GDDR6X because I have to run as secondary mods give ok results but many times it has been wrong too. It's like a hair pulling game. 😁. I still remember your first advice to wait until the video has been processed. I just follow that as a Bible now.

No when you say identical it should be the same model number and brand. For example, if the GPU has Samsung installed with the model K4ZAF325BM-HC14 then the replacement should be the same model of the same brand. Installing any other brand or any other model will not work irrespective of the BIOS. The same goes with Micron and Hynix. No BIOS flashing is required when you replace the faulty memory. Now if I have to swap from one brand to another i.e. if I am planning to replace from Samsung to Micron I would need to swap all the memory modules on the GPU and also change the straps to tell the BIOS which brand is installed.

A lot of tools are needed to get it right. Hot air and preheater. 6600xt already uses the 2 GB modules and that's the highest capacity available. So it cannot be upgraded any further.
