...being an 'intact' *BULL, (not neutered) since they mentioned that, but didn't mention anything about being 'tethered' (or not), hence my "????", re: your comment of 'free standing'? & .."IN tethered". Thought maybe English wasn't your 1st language and was simply going to explain what 'intact' meant.

@@romb4649 ...you were mistaken but thank you. He is a rather lathe animal and I seen what they did to thstoot tortoise a while back. If he decided her was going thru them....not a lot try could do to do him. Pretty ballsy of them...pardon the pun...lol

Those are calcium deposits. Most non-neutered giraffe males will have those bumps because of increased testosterone levels.

Though it looks like Rachael was right up against Khalid, there was actually some distance between the two. Keepers can go in with giraffe for training sessions. They cannot go in alone and share the same space as a giraffe, and they also have to have a quick exit route just in case they need to leave the area.
