Due to Civil War sometime in 1949-51, Philippines welcome 6,000 Russian refugees to stay in the Visayas region, particularly in Samar Island, Philippines...it runs in the veins that is why many Russians really love the Philippines that they keep on coming back to our country, no matter what happens!

Jelena, just a word of cautioun. Never play around with bolo and coconut with a child around. One freak accident and that's it but anyway, fresh coconut juice is the best! In Vegas I had to contend with packaged coconut juice and I don't like the coconuts sold in the grocery stores here. Nothing beats a coconut fresh from a tree.

I didn't know that there is a Russian village exclusively for Russians in Samal island. At least they are welcome in this beautiful country. Everyone is welcome to be friends of the Philippines. Enjoy your stay. Consider the Philippines as your second home. May i share to you a little bit of history. During the time 1949-1951 there were many Russians who were staying in China escaped due to the declaration of communist government. The Philippines accepted 6,000 Russians and were offered a place in Tubabao island in Samar province where they established their own community until such time that some of them migrated to the U.S A. , Australia and some other countries. That's how the Philippines has a good and compassionate heart. Have a nice day.
