Fun timing... I finally found and bought about 20 of the Least Killifish yesterday. I have been looking for them for a year and a half! Looking forward to finally keep them and hopefully breed them.

I never had any luck keeping my colony going, and I don't quite know why. I think an air powered sponge filter is probably a necessity, and if you think you have enough plants then you should add more.

omg I have a least killi tank too! I caught two pregnant females and now I have a bunch of them!! I didn't know anyone loved them but me! I also have some sheepshead minnows, some baby mollies (same situation, caught the moms then let them go), and an invasive Rio Grande Cichlid.
It's amazing how well the fish do in a tub of water and plants.

I'm fine with whatever content you want to share with us. I love it all. I am patiently waiting until you start shipping hard scape and plants again. I can't have fish (pets) where I live but I can have a terrarium. I've been working on setting it up over the last 3 months. Still have a few things to get, but I think by new years i'll be ready to start buying aquatic plants and mosses that will thrive in a terrarium. Looking to get some small pieces of spiderwood, and a rock or two from you.

I live in Las Vegas and have a 1000 gallon pond in my backyard. I went to a local nursery to buy water plants and I spotted a tub of plants that had a bunch of Bluefin Killifish in it. The lady said that the plants they ordered must have had eggs because these little guys popped out of nowhere. She kindly gave me 20 to take home and they are thriving in my pond! Reproducing like crazy too. Little fry swimming everywhere. My question: Will they survive the cold Las Vegas winter? It gets as low as 40 degrees over night in December and January. Not extremely cold, but cold none the less.

I'm looking forward to learn how you over winter your plants, I have some of the same plants in my two water features/ponds that I need to over winter, could use some insight and I could think of no other place to find it than here. Your yields are looking fabulous..

I am curious what the temperatures have been inside the green house...and do you feel you would do better to add shade cloth to keep the top shelf from getting so hot? It would be a dream to have a green house like that...so fun to watch as you share these new adventures.

Will you be making a video to let everyone know the full list of fish you will be selling in the future of your current stock and what you're planning to order to fill in the rest of your fish room? I know you're not quite ready yet but I feel it won't be too long before you're back in business. Perhaps a hint at an estimated time you'd be starting to ship to give us time to start fishless cycling of our tanks ;) Keep up the great work Rachel!

I have some least killis, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them. Currently they are in a tank with some young endlers and some shrimp, but since they are more unusual than any of my other fish, I'm thinking about if I could breed them. Also, they are native to where I live, so I could do something with them outside.

@SarahThornburg6 жыл бұрын
You may have already answered this but why are the tubs and greenhouse best for breeding? I thought they needed cooler temps to start breeding. Or it is simply more space, more hiding spots, more food, etc?

I noticed the the build of the green house you put a barrier between the dirt and the floor. Does this allow spilled/poured out water to empty/drain from the gravel?

Yep! It's just weed block, so allows water to go through

Hi! I’m new here but I really enjoy your content! I was wondering how cool the water gets during nights. I would like to house a few of these fish in my 10 gallon, walstead, No tech tank. The lowest my water temperature gets is 17°C. I currently have medaka Rice fish, RCS and various snail species. If not heterandria formosa, what species do you think i should get, that produces fry frequently?

Hey Rachel. I was wondering if you knew of any good places in the US that I could get these? I've been looking for them for so long I considered checking up on the laws and catching them myself when I head to Florida for spring break this year. I had a few when I was a child and I really loved them but can't seem to find them anywhere except ebay. I live on a college campus in northern GA and them getting lost on the mail room or me being in trouble for ordering fish to the school is not something I really want to risk.
