I think I have watched Brian for 10 years. Love his reviews. He does stuff no one dares doing, like the knife test. Brian is my standard knife reviewer. If he doesn't review it I don't buy it.

I stumbled across your channel when I was looking for a decent pocket knife. Now I have a severe problem collecting American made fix blades. Probably die broke, but I’ll have a lot of great blades. Thanks very much. 7:46

Wow. That's a nice little knife. For $130... it should be. I still have half a dozen SCHF13sm knives, I keep one in my pocket, my wife carries one as well, and the rest are in various drawers around the house for easy access. The only problem I ever have with them is that my wife swaps my razor sharp pocket carry out for her dull one. She cuts dozens of boxes a day with it, so about every two weeks I get to sharpen one again. Anyway, I'm set for little pocket knives but if I wasn't I'd def get my hands on one of these. Another great Sharp Saturday video. Thanks.

Great knife, but $130 for Sandvik is too much. I love 14c28n but a small fixed blade in it should be $50-$80 max. I bought two small blades and they were $30 and $50.
@SurvivalOnPurpose5 ай бұрын
Value is certainly subjective but I don’t think price is as dependent on steel type as many people think. I doubt there is $50 or more price difference between almost any steels in a knife of this size.
@D00MTR335 ай бұрын
@@SurvivalOnPurpose it's not. But besides the cost of the steel, there's difference in heat treatment (Sandvik is easier to HT than say S90V, m390 or Cruwear), grinding (you'll need more time and belts for different steels) and finish. There might be only a $5-$10 difference in the cost of the steel itself, but it's the other costs that raise the price of a knife in a different steel. Then there's perceived value. I think $130 for a 14c28n knife seems high for most knife guys. But if it's S90V, 4V, Cruwear or maxamet, it might seem like a bargain. Handle material and sheath type play a difference too. So does the size of the knife. And of course where it's made. If it's made in the US, then I can see people paying $130 for this knife. But $130 for one that's made in China is too much. Not when you can buy a similar knife for $30-$50 on Amazon or other places. A fire kit inside doesn't add $100 worth of value.

Great review. However, $130 is too much for 14C28N steel. That is a mid range steel at best.

I bought the MSK-1 Primative Survival Knife with all the bells and whistles at $230. It's a beast heavier than my Ka Bar BK2. My hand won't fit this one I would hurt myself trying hold it.

As for price and size of this knife? Look up what the premo knife makers charge for EDV 6" fixed blades in expensive powder steels. $200 to $300.

Tired of people saying a dull knife causes more damage: YES a dull knife will lead to more accidents. But a sharp knife will do some damage you can't imagine. It will slice to the bone.
@SurvivalOnPurpose5 ай бұрын
I have never heard that a dull knife causes “more damage”. I have heard that a dull knife is “more dangerous” because you have to use more force. I guess it depends on Jarvis meant by “dangerous”. I will say I have cut myself fairly badly a few times in my life and those were always with a very sharp knife.
