Austin Butler really did an uncanny job of singing, talking and moving like Elvis. Chances are, if Brendan Fraser hadn't been nominated in the same year, then the Oscar would have been his.

True, but Jennifer did almost no singing in the film. Except in one scene where she sings a couple of lines. J.Lo simply lip-synched to the original recordings by Selena. Sort of ironic that the movie lead to a record deal for Jennifer, when she admittedly could barely even sing at that time.

@Markyajv Stating facts is not "Hating". Jennifer Lopez didn't sing the songs in the movie. In some of the other music movies like "Walk the Line", "Ray", and the "Buddy Holly Story", the actors in the films did their own singing. And I do believe that if it wasn't for her success and popularity from the movie "Selena", no record company would have ever given her a recording contract.

Austin Butler really does deserve to be on this list. Not only does he really sound and look like Elvis, but he actually spent years perfecting it! Elvis was actually supposed to be filmed sometime during 2020, but, as with many films, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, filming was halted. Austin Butler took that opportunity to research Elvis by watching ALL of his films, live performances, talk show appearances, etc. to see how to portray him to the letter. Talk about serious dedication!!

i still think J Foxx should be #1 here. Not only did he get the oscar (some others on this list did too) but he's actually classicaly trained in the profession, including having performed many of those songs LONG before he auditioned in front of Ray himself for the role. After reading some of the other comments on here I'm thinking this list should have been extended to include other performances as well. Coal Miner's daughter, Labamba and others probably should have made this a "top 15" or even more list.

Taron Egerton still is so underrated for that amazing performance, for me he's the biggest snub at the oscars of the last 10 years, also Austin Butler should have won the oscar not brendan fraser, he didn't act he became Elvis even Lisa Marie said so before she passed away it was like seeing his father again. Jamie Foxx’s inhabitation of Ray Charles should be #1, hands down. Doing of all his own singing AND playing, while also capturing the mannerisms, movements, and limitations of blindness - absolutely stunning. Everybody on this list did an amazing job portraying their real-life counterparts with humanity and empathy. Although Kingsley Ben Adir and Marisa Abela did attempt to portray Bob Marley and Amy Winehouse respectively with humanity and empathy, it just didn't work. Hopefully, the Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra biopics, especially Michael Jackson as Jaafar is Michael’s nephew and knows his uncle more than anyone, they will get the same treatment.
