His replacement was actor Jack Haley, who of course would star famously as the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. And for Jack, the face makeup was changed to aluminum paste. She was also supposed to return her everlasting gobstopper, but, you guessed it, she kept that as well :-) Hey, I had one of those "candy factory" kits, they came with plastic molds and a bunch of Wonka wrappers. Fun Fact: In the original Roald Dahl book, the Oompa Loompas were playful, happy, and energetic creatures with blonde hair and wore tribal animal skins. But as anyone who saw the 1971 film will tell you, they act dull, depressed, and soft spoken. They also have orange faces, green hair, and white overalls that have something sticking out of each of their legs for some reason . . . Yeah, just one more reason why Roald Dahl didn't care for the film.

also in the book, wonka never showed any signs of displeasure except at the other companies sending spies in to steal his secrets. and Charlie didn't do anything wrong.
