What's dumber is the symbol is VAGUELY similar to the Shriner's. In the loosest way possible. The Shriner's symbol is a star inside a downwards facing crescent with a scimitar on top. Stan's is a Pacman fish with a dot in front of it. Same GENERAL layout but otherwise doesn't look anything like it and thus nothing to be worried over.

Some parents unfortunately don’t have the time or energy to provide children with that treatment due to their work obligations in order to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. This is also why I feel too nervous to have any kids of my own due to any personal concerns about them perceiving me as “mean spirited” or feel like they’d have their ears talked off if I ever tried lecturing them myself!

Two of these instances of censorship have since been undone: 1.) The symbol on Grunkle Stan’s fez is back after Gravity Falls fans gave enough of an outcry towards its removal. 2.) Splash was restored to being uncensored when Disney upgraded their master of the movie to a new 4K restoration, apparently either forgetting or not caring to continue applying the edit they previously made to that film.

The hamilton censorship to me is the most offensive, Disney had nothing to do with the making of Hamilton yet they brought it to their streaming service and decided how it should be aired. They wanted all the profits but none of the 'dirty laundry', having the cake and eating it too
@SerenityLibs
@SerenityLibs 3 ай бұрын
The way this is presented in the video is a little misleading. The edits were made to appease the MPAA, not Disney. Hamilton was originally supposed to be released in movie theaters before 2020 happened. If a movie contains more than 1 f bomb, it's an automatic R rating. They made the edits they did so it would be rated PG-13 and younger people would be able to see it in theaters.
@norrineretz2011
@norrineretz2011 3 ай бұрын
You have to remember that Miranda himself agreed to these changes and chose which one would be kept. He could've sold the rights to anyone but opted for Disney. He's worked with Disney in the past and has been in the industry long enough to know Hamilton as-is would get an R rating no matter who released it. It has nothing to do with Disney wanting profits and everything to do with appeasing the MPAA for that PG-13 rating to give the film more visibility.

Miranda himself was involved with the cuts and had no objection to them. The performers stiped singing that moment and moved on. There was no audio or digital post/live recording censorship

It never seemed that way to me either. It was based on the nostalgia of adults and what they grew up with. And just about every joke went over kid’s heads. The problem is the misconception of thinking Disney or animation in general is for kids only. No it is not. It can be for adults. If Disney is this hell bent of not having stuff made for adults on their platform, they should stop being a monopoly and buying companies known for making movies for adults. Also, we have a pin code for 18+ users. Why the hell do they need to censor stuff for the adults anyways?

I actually have the version of season three with Stark Raving Dad (though I don't really like the episode because it's just an early version of the Simpsons episodes where they waste their time adulating a celebrity than actually telling a story. How can people like Stark Raving Dad, Krusty Gets Canceled, and Homerpalooza, but think Lisa Goes Gaga is trash? It's basically the same episode, but with different flavors of celebrity).

Disney's Kim Possible cartoon series had Kim Possible always in a navel baring bared midriff outfit in school, at home, or fighting bad guys: And unnamed " Parental Groups " were complaining about this " Sexy " outfit being worn by a teen/ preteen girl character. SO Disney had an episode where this outfit was damaged and her choosing another midriff-covering outfit to replace it. Whether this rumor was true or not, Disney did change cartoon Kim Possible's outfit to a less revealing outfit during the course of the series.

It's also all seasons of The Simpsons that they censored. When I watched the earlier seasons on Disney Plus a few years ago, I noticed how you couldn't see the bottom half of the screen. So if anything or anyone fell to the floor or something happened at the bottom of the screen, you couldn't see it. Thank goodness for owning the old DVDs.

There's also the "Deadly Force" episode of Gargoyles. In the uncut episode, after Elisa is shot, she's laying in a pool of blood. On Disney plus, the floor is just a little dark underneath her. Like she just decided to take a nap on the floor and wet herself! The episode is uncut on the DVD release.

Here's one censorship on Disney+ I will never forget: the scroll in the second Phineas and Ferb Meap special, Meapless in Seattle. (The episode usually begins with text scrolling, but on Disney+, the scroll is replaced with captions, for some odd reason...)
@DoofenSpyroDragon16
@DoofenSpyroDragon16 3 ай бұрын
That’s in several episodes with text. They’re still in their original form on XD, but they all have captions on Disney plus. My dad’s theory is to make it easier for language dubs and translation.

The worst part about censorship is that people don't know how to have a backbone. The only one I see that was acceptable was changing the chest size because uh...idk what to say. But the rest, like....bruh. KEEP IT TO THE ORIGINALS! Like jeez...why can't you keep the original!? There's a reason why there's ratings and why we have responsible parents and children who know better!

A couple of years ago I noticed that Disney also censored one of my favorite movies of all time: Mulan. In the original version, when Shang visits Mulan at the end of the film you can hear her grandmother off camera screaming something like Can he stay forever??? While the two of them are talking. It was easy to censor considering she wasn't in the picture but I always thought it was silly and unnecessary.

My favorite edit is from the Ducktales episode Sir Gyro de Gearloose, where the wizard slams a magnet on the table and yelling "WORK WORK WORK".
