What's dumber is the symbol is VAGUELY similar to the Shriner's. In the loosest way possible. The Shriner's symbol is a star inside a downwards facing crescent with a scimitar on top. Stan's is a Pacman fish with a dot in front of it. Same GENERAL layout but otherwise doesn't look anything like it and thus nothing to be worried over.

Two of these instances of censorship have since been undone: 1.) The symbol on Grunkle Stan’s fez is back after Gravity Falls fans gave enough of an outcry towards its removal. 2.) Splash was restored to being uncensored when Disney upgraded their master of the movie to a new 4K restoration, apparently either forgetting or not caring to continue applying the edit they previously made to that film.
@TheKeller1013 ай бұрын
The hamilton censorship to me is the most offensive, Disney had nothing to do with the making of Hamilton yet they brought it to their streaming service and decided how it should be aired. They wanted all the profits but none of the 'dirty laundry', having the cake and eating it too
@SerenityLibs3 ай бұрын
The way this is presented in the video is a little misleading. The edits were made to appease the MPAA, not Disney. Hamilton was originally supposed to be released in movie theaters before 2020 happened. If a movie contains more than 1 f bomb, it's an automatic R rating. They made the edits they did so it would be rated PG-13 and younger people would be able to see it in theaters.
@norrineretz20113 ай бұрын
You have to remember that Miranda himself agreed to these changes and chose which one would be kept. He could've sold the rights to anyone but opted for Disney. He's worked with Disney in the past and has been in the industry long enough to know Hamilton as-is would get an R rating no matter who released it. It has nothing to do with Disney wanting profits and everything to do with appeasing the MPAA for that PG-13 rating to give the film more visibility.

Miranda himself was involved with the cuts and had no objection to them. The performers stiped singing that moment and moved on. There was no audio or digital post/live recording censorship

It never seemed that way to me either. It was based on the nostalgia of adults and what they grew up with. And just about every joke went over kid’s heads. The problem is the misconception of thinking Disney or animation in general is for kids only. No it is not. It can be for adults. I'm just glad they didn't remove the iconic, "Ogga bogga!" line from Who Framed Rodger Rabbit. That line is funny and there's nothing wrong with it. I think they should've left it in Bluey though.

The worst part about censorship is that people don't know how to have a backbone. The only one I see that was acceptable was changing the chest size because uh...idk what to say. But the rest, like....bruh. KEEP IT TO THE ORIGINALS! Like jeez...why can't you keep the original!? There's a reason why there's ratings and why we have responsible parents and children who know better!
@psnb10693 ай бұрын
Yeah, some of the stuff that was censored are stuff that kids need to know at one point.

A couple of years ago I noticed that Disney also censored one of my favorite movies of all time: Mulan. In the original version, when Shang visits Mulan at the end of the film you can hear her grandmother off camera screaming something like Can he stay forever??? While the two of them are talking. It was easy to censor considering she wasn't in the picture but I always thought it was silly and unnecessary.

My favorite edit is from the Ducktales episode Sir Gyro de Gearloose, where the wizard slams a magnet on the table and yelling "WORK WORK WORK". Now it's more clear what he says, but his accent originally made the W sound like an F, sounded like he was swearing. This change was also made before Disney Plus.

And this is why Disney stocks are falling people who grew up on the original are the consumers so we expect to relieve our childhood smh this is why they say this society is too soft

Disney+ had nothing to do with the censored part for the opening scene of Aladdin. the change of the song lyric was made was way back when they released it on VHS. it was only in the soundtrack that had that lyric and it changed before the film released since soundtracks back then were always released before the films were in the theatres.
