I am not a grandmother, but I agree with you 100%. If you don't want to be a built-in nanny that babysits her grandchildren full time I agree with you. As my mother once said, "I am a grandmother, and I want to enjoy my grandchildren and give them back when I'm tired. I don't want to be obligated to watch them full time or semi full time, because I raised my children and worked full time. It is now time for me to enjoy my life". I agreed with my mother and never asked her to watch my children 40 hours a week when I worked. I had to pay for childcare. That is what weird JD Vance does not understand, is that most grandparents should not have to be fulltime nannies if they do not want to be. They have earned the right to enjoy their grandchildren at their own leisure..and on their time...not our time.

When I had my children , my parents lived in a city that was an hour and a half away. Both were working full time and my two youngest brothers were still at home as young teenagers! I am not sure how that's supposed to work for childcare....

That’s unfortunate for you and the kids. My daughter is an EMT and worked at all hours when a call came in. I watched both my Grandkids for her to work. Those years were the best years of my life. I had so much fun with them and today they are 20 and 27 years old. They still remember the fun we had and the songs I sang to them.

I was raised by my grandparents who were in their 80’s before I had children. We moved a couple hours away. My husband’s parents weren’t close either and had jobs. How crazy do you have to be to think everyone has automatic grandparents to watch their kids! He’s completely out of touch!

JD! I'm a grandma and I love my grandchildren, but watching the kids at my age and condition is out of the question. Some grandparents have their own lives. We love our grandchildren and kids, but I raised my kids. It's my time for a while at least. Childcare is not cheap. I don't believe in leaving my children with strangers. The ultimate situation, one parent stays home. Running a household and children are "Full-time jobs". They shouldn't have to work 2-3 jobs to make ends meet.

I mean you just have to work it out you can’t depend upon your family to watch your children in the first place I would never ask my parents to do that they had already raise children and they did not want although they would’ve done it they were not in a position to be raising children again. Do you think it’s easy finding a family member to watch them while you’re working full time? Also, babysitters don’t usually take part time care. You pay the same rate full time even if your kids are going to daycare part time. I should know, both of my boys went to daycare and I had to pay as if they were going full time.

It puzzled me too! As a tax collector/investigator, we can’t accept anything that is over $30. If we accept lunch meal while working offsite, we have to provide a report why the free meal was accepted. Anything sent to our hq like flowers has to be displayed in the main lobby. We received goods (sweets) that were worth over $100. We sent them back to the sender.

I don’t understand how Trump doesn’t know that tariffs just make things more expensive for Americans. You’re not taking money from the countries you implement tariffs on! You’re charging your own people more for those goods! We saw that when he put tariffs on steel coming from China. The factories making nails out of that cheap metal were hit the hardest, which increased the cost of many building supplies making it harder to build homes. Exactly! And not to mention that Grandma and Grandpa may, once they retire, want time for themselves. They don't want to be a built-in babysitter 40+ hours a week. Some may not want to do it weekly part-time. I know my mother loved her grandchildren but wanted to spend time with them on her time and give them back. She worked since she was 13 and retired at 68. She wanted to relax and live her life. God Bless my mother who is now deceased and was loved tremendously by her grandchildren.

Think about this for a minute. Crimes that were committed. What does that mean? When a president does things while he is in office as president should never be allowed to commit crime. Think about that for a minute what does crime mean? it means the committing of an act that is wrong that breaks the law.
