I am German, but I remember that day (night in Germany) very well. I was 6 years old when my dad woke me up, totally in tears and confused, stumbling "they killed him, oh my god, they killed him. They shot president Kennedy". I had never seen my dad crying or confused and I never saw him like that again. I still remeber like yesterday.

One of my first memories was watching my nanny crying as she watched President Kennedy’s funeral. It wasn’t until later in life that I understood why she was crying. My nanny raised me till I was six and is the foundation of who I am today. I never saw her color I just knew she loved me. That day had to be so hard for her and her family. I was in elementary school when KFK was assassinated. I remember that day like it happened yesterday. The collective sadness was unbearable.
