In both countries the government has had to crack down to force them to stop their shady practices. Ever worsening tornadoes will make Florida and other US states uninhabitable in a few decades. This is just the beginning, a category 6 will be needed soon. A general rigorous plan devised by landscape architects (Kotchakorn Voraakhom), forestry experts (Geoff Lawton), hydrologists, urbanists is urgently needed. Politicians are totally incompetent in this matter. Sponge town, unsealed soil, trees everywhere are the only solution. Open spaces like highways, parking lots increase the violence of the storm. In Europe we have created floodplains to divert water from residential areas. Tornado stricken areas are not to be rebuilt but afforested with native deep-rooted tree species. Mangroves from Everglades to Mexico and a forest belt on the West Coast can break the waves and the wind.

And some would rather give tax cuts to billionaires rather than develop relocation plans and mitigation plans for affected areas. You may have to face the possibility that up to a third of Florida's land though will disappear beneath the ocean waters as the oceans continue to rise. Many people don't have the resources or ability to leave. No money, no car, nowhere to stay. Many workplaces require employees to stay or return in an unreasonable amount of time. We have 3 major hwys that run through Florida from all the way north to south. 75 and the turn pike merge in lake city easy to reroute south bound traffic to the turnpike when 75 has been switched as the same with when 85 is needed for emergency evucating.

This is for my fellow Floridians like this woman saying there is no place to go. Skip the hotels and get to a public school. Everyone in the state should know already they are emergency shelters. Sure your in the gym with as many as they can get in. There is no room service and the food comes from Red Cross or military MREs.
