A group of Congressional Democrats are joining forces in an effort to fight the far-right initiative known as Project 2025. Project 2025 is a policy plan to be enacted if Donald Trump returns to the White House -- crafted by the right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation and several former Trump administration officials. "Sunlight is the best disinfectant”, says Oversight member Democratic Representative Ayanna Pressley. She joins Ali Velshi to discuss her role in a new initiative to fight Project 2025 and why voters need to listen carefully to what the initiative’s creators are saying. “These extremists do not make threats, they make promises.”

I think most people believe it is so absurd that many people believe it could never happen. When the UK had the Brexit referendum lots of people warned of the many problems that were going to occur and those that wanted to leave the EU based on a false belief that UK laws were being made by the EU wouldn't believe the many things they were warned of. If Project 2025 is enacted then situations like what’s happening with Boeing will become normal in all industries. The safety issues with Boeing came about because cuts to the FAA has resulted in lack of staff and capacity at the FAA to sufficiently over see airworthiness at Boeing. So the FAA delegated some airworthiness oversight to Boeing, but the FAA still didn’t have enough staff after the 2018 cuts. Boeing put profits over safety and cuts to the FAA meant that government regulators didn’t have enough oversight of Boeing to catch the problems. This will happen in any and every industry that has federal oversight if the non partisan government workers are replaced with political appointees.

Americans are already doing that. About 30% of Americans are participating in a watch program. That stalks Americans citizens 24hrs a day. I was invited to participate in the program 3 times. I declined. This program pays citizens to watch their neighbors. The majority of those participating in the program work from home and have American flags in their front yards. And its just not one group or race of people. All races participate and lots of immigrants. If you don't know about the program. The odds of this group monitoring you is over 50%.
