My concern with Harris being the nominee is that no matter how qualified she is, this country clearly has not come far enough for many registered independents to see their way to voting for a woman - nevermind a woman of color. Misogyny and racism are still alive and well.

As an Indie, I'd vote for her despite her not being my first nor my 10th choice. The fact that she dropped out of the presidential race back in December 2019 because not enough people wanted her might still be a cloud hanging over her. Yet, she has 3.5 years of experience as vice president of the United States. I agree with what you're saying that some people may not be ready for a black woman president. Personally, I'm not ready for an autocratic dictatorial regime. So I'd vote for her if she were running for president instead of Biden.

Trump’s speech was well done, borrow a term from morning Joe. Trump was cogent, articulate, his mouth was not agape blank looks. No one had to lead Trump anywhere, because Trump does not wander off. and Trump had a long day and he can stay up past 930.
