With just over six weeks until Election Day, the poll finds Harris with a 5-point lead over former President Donald Trump among registered voters, 49 percent to 44 percent. While that result is within the margin of error, it’s a clear shift from July’s poll, when Trump was ahead by 2 points before President Joe Biden’s exit. The Morning Joe panel discusses.

That number is stagnant and what it tells me is that his base is mired in cement shoes. If he goes down to 44% I believe it's absolutely over for him. A tight race to be sure and nothing can be taken for granted but this time, as voters go into the voting booth, I believe some of the die-hard members will fall away because Kamala Harris has wrestled with their consciences (those who can admit to having one) and many will do the proper thing by voting for her. Luckily, no one can see who you vote for and I think that is a good thing. It makes everyone comfortable enough to choose.
