Former President Donald Trump lauded a wealthy donor on whom he bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom as having gotten the "better" award compared to the top military honor, the Medal of Honor, because those recipients are often deceased or injured. My grandfather was at DDay and was awarded with a silver star and medal of honor. He lost his hearing when a landmine explored. He was in General Pattons 3rd army. How dare he say this. My grandfather had ptsd and had nightmares decades after WW2 ended. He is a hero in my book. This treatment should not be tolerated and should be removed from the ballot

M of H recipients usually did something heroic to save the lives if his fellows troops. I saw a M of H Medal awarded to a Cherokee ( WWII) on display in the museum of the Eastern Band Cherokee on the Qualla Boundary, Swain County, Western North Carolina. I'm not a pro-military person either but WWII was a different war in that we were fighting Fascist Hitler's Germany, etc... I'm a first generation baby boomer and all the wars in my lifetime could've been dealt with in another way and some the US didn' t need to be involve.

I served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. I was prideful and grateful to be part of such a magnificent organization. Even today, when I go to the V.A. medical clinic, being among other veterans evoke the feeling of pride and sense of belonging to a very special group of people. The military instilled in me, a sense of tolerance, patience and discipline that I will forever be thankful for. My father was an Air Force pilot, who served in two combat zones, and our family knew a number of families who either lost their father to service in combat or he came home with injuries. I went to school with kids whose dads were POWs. It hurts my heart to hear this remark from a former Commander in Chief. I don’t think any president is perfect, and both parties have their faults and strengths, but this remark from Pres Trump is absolutely disgraceful. I’m astonished by such a comment from a former president.
