To me the problem is the pardon extends to anything he "might have done" in a nearly 11 year period which suggests there are things he did that have not been discovered, yet. Do you think it's a coincidence that these pardon terms are the exact same terms as his council put into their initial plea deal that got rejected by the judge for being "the most absurd thing" ever seen in a trial case.
@JohnSmith-ji2ys11 сағат бұрын
"The problem is he said he wouldn't, and MSM went on forever about how "That's the kinda thing Trump would do!! OUR guy would never do that!!" Trump pardoned Charles Kushner, his real estate buddy and son-in-law's father, for tax evasion (which he pled guilty to) done years prior. Its amazing how Trump supporters want to bash Biden over this yet gleefully endorse Trump's with his numerous scandals and pardons from his first term. Go ahead and condemn Biden. You already hate Biden despite his faithfulness to his wife Jill and years of public service.

In his role as president of the United States (January 20, 2017 - January 20, 2021), Donald Trump granted executive clemency to 237 individuals charged or convicted of federal criminal offenses, using his clemency power under Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution. Ordinarily, all requests for executive clemency for federal offenses are directed to the Office of the Pardon Attorney (OPA) in the U.S. Department of Justice for review; however, Trump frequently bypassed the OPA, and the majority of his executive clemency grants were made to well-connected convicts who did not file a petition with the OPA or meet the OPA's requirements. Overall, Trump granted less clemency than many of the modern presidents. Of the pardons and commutations that Trump did grant, the vast majority were to persons to whom Trump had a personal or political connection, or persons for whom executive clemency served a political goal] A significant number had been convicted of fraud or public corruption.[5] The New York Times reported that during the closing days of the Trump presidency, individuals with access to the administration, such as former administration officials, were soliciting fees to lobby for presidential pardons. So, Clinton did it first, for his half brother and business associate then Trump for Jared's dad, and now Biden for his son. Please, get real people!

This decision by Biden shows his understanding that we are going into a lawless age where political persecutions are sanctioned. He did not give himself a pardon; but as a caring father, could not withhold that from his son who was already being treated unfairly, and would likely face worse persecution under the coming regime. I do expect leaders to be human, and have no problem with Biden pardoning Hunter for an Inconsequential crime. There has been little if any justification for Any of the attacks against Biden including a full scale retaliatory impeachment attempt with no evidence. Biden's son was facing prosecution largely due to being Biden's son. If this is a crime family, where are the serious crimes? As usual, there is no equivalency! Trump has voluminous proven crimes and a non-partisan impeachment. Perhaps it was unwise for Biden to say he would not pardon his son - but that was due to his optimistic belief in a continued fair and impartial justice system and his faith in the citizenry to not elect someone so corrupt as Trump. We have let down Biden, Harris, and our nations experiment with a Constitutional Republic. For those who want to criticize Biden, it will be difficult to forgive that there was not sufficient foresight to avoid transferring our government into the hands of insurrectionists and their accomplices. After a fabulous record as president - this inappropriate transfer of power will be a legacy that will be difficult for Biden & Harris to endure. This is a shared tragic result of systemic failures. Including our own largely misinformed votes, and the failure to vote.

"What would be wrong with Hunter going to prison for crimes he committed?" When Trump goes to prison for the crimes HE committed, absolutely. Hunter escaped because he won a genetics contest.
