A union saved my job after I was unjustly fired, even though I did not belong to the union. Took about 2 months to get my job back, but I also got backpay once I got my job back. Another person was fired years before me, for the same unjust reason. Not sure what the union situation was then, or maybe they didn’t take it to the union like I did. However, because I got my job back, they had to offer this person their job back with years of backpay. And they accepted. UNIONS ROCK! Vote 💙, please!

My dad was a Union Man and I used to listen to his conversations with my mom about those that didn't join the union but received the protection as those that did! Child labor…slightly over 50 years ago I sat in a college class with a young man who had a traumatic injury to his hand from a work place accident where his hand was pulled into a machine. Doctors had grafted and who knows what else to the hand so it looked like a mitten. He was facing up-teen surgeries to recreate fingers. He was lucky, he survived but he should have never been operating that type of machinery. We need laws on child labor! Children need to be protected.

Here in Florida kids, I guess, can work full time at 16 or maybe earlier. I know a 16 year old that works in his family's feed store. 90 +deg. and hard labor. He is home schooled, so maybe he will take time off now that other schools have started. His family will now get the new Florida voucher for $8k a year. Our poor rural county lost $20M in funding due to vouchers. I know one religious school student her that a student told me wasn't safe. Luckily the daughter of a friend is in public school as she wanted.

If Trump gets in, it's Mike Johnson who may be the wolf in sheeps clothing. He follows and is a member of the New Apostolic Reformation movement. A lot of other House republicans are followers too. The Seven Mountain Mandate is another cultist far-right christian militia movement that Mike Johnson, Lauren Boebert, and Marsha Blackburn and others are listed as prominent supporters of. They call for dominionism with Theonomy for punishment guidelines. What you wrote made me think of what I've read about those movements and their theologies and ideologies. What I've read says if anyone dissents or refuses their orders and guidelines, it won't end well for them.

Some systems MANDATE it, and then you don't have a choice. I have been forced to work an extra 6 hours to cover for a call-off or no-show, with the threat of "patient abandonment" charges if I didn't, then they took away a whole shift later in the pay period so I wouldn't have OT, which shorted me 6 hours. PLUS that mandated time was on days, so no shift differential. I don't work there anymore. I hated it.

I live in a "right to work" state. An oxymoron, to be sure. Unions are actively discouraged. Where I worked in IL years ago, it was a non-union school district. Super low salaries, which is why I left. A few years after that, the teachers finally managed to get a union and salaries were significantly improved. It makes a difference.

Second, there are a lot of government employees, with interests best represented by a union. Finally, there are no truly free markets. Rather, the "free market" is just one force among many. Like any institution, unions can abuse their position, and are subject to corruption. Which is why we have regulations. Regulations that cost to maintain.

I live in deep red Misery, and I have worked for a right to work company. Never again. We were treated like slaves, and salaried employees were required to work a minimum of 60 hours a week with zero overtime pay. I am a 100% disabled veteran, and I was terminated because I had to take off too much time for medical treatments. I will vote against the big business every time.
