I've know about Bayard for Years there was a film about him in London years ago at a film festival. He's sexuality was spoken about however the main focus was his pivotal contribution to MLK.

I wish we had realized his value and not hidden and then fired him. The Quakers accomplished a lot with few people actively working, and yielding to the current legal/political climate was a real disservice to him as a person and to the movement for human rights.

Quakers rock. I went to their Pasadena meetings for a few years until I moved away. Fwiw, I was shocked and delighted that there are no preachers. A bunch of them don't even believe in God. 😂 It's about the vibes in the room when people just sit in unity. The Sunday after 9/11 was the most powerful shared experience of my life. The hall was filled to the rafters and nary a sound except from one old man who was a WWII vet and then a voice rose - I could not see who was singing - in an a capella verse of 'Amazing Grace'.
