The problem with the signage is that there is no rental car return indicator prior to the exit to terminal 1. So you don't know whether you should go to terminal 1 or 2 for rental car return in the first place. The rental car return sign is after you get off the initial exit for terminal 1. I was there yesterday, 10/22/23, and spoke to several people at security line that had the same confusion and ended up going to terminal 2 for rental car return as there was no indication you could return at terminal 1 from the highway. Then after you return at terminal 2 you need to follow a bunch of vague signs and get on a light rail to get back to Terminal 1. This will add at least a half hour to your arrival if you make this error. Really no one should be having to go from terminal 2 to 1 if your airline is not at 2, but there were many people waiting for light rail as they brought rental car back to 2 when they could have brought it to 1.
