Had a fuel pump issue a mont ago with a relatively new stove and I sent the fuel pump back for replacement. I let MSR know that I was on a time crunch to get the pump back due to a hard deadline for a huge camping trip and they rushed the replacement out to me. Good customer service and the stove works like a mule. Great system.

The U is for Universal. In field repair kits, you have IK and IG for International, another stove.

When running canister gas on this stove: You can run the canister upright on warmer days than 20 or 30 deg. F. In winter when the canister doesn't want to run in extreme cold, you can start the stove with the canister upright, and after maybe half a minute, flip the canister upside down to do liquid feed for the burner. The hot stainless loop in the blue flames will ensure vapor reaches the jet. So, upside down = winter running

When I had my Whisperlite gas, and Svea 123, I primed them with liquid alcohol. It was cleaner, and didn't have a big sooty flame. I since found out that these hand sanitizers (gel), have up to 80% alcohol, and make great primers. Safer, clean and hot.

The jets on the original whisperlites did not have the U prefix. The U is there to designate they're for the newer model.

Only thing I dont like about it is I cant cook without getting a center burn on my pan. One day, I am going to own a Whisperlite Universal stove and cook everything I want. I had tried to bake a biscuit with the Rocket but didnt quite do it.

because the gas can when you invert it will put liquid fuel through the line and if that copper loop isnt heated first you'll have liquid gas coming out faster than it can burn

I used UG jet (petroleum) with gaz canisters, it works but power is weak, burning time is longer, I wonder what if I don't use any jet when using gaz canisters ( remove all jets).

No, the xgk ex isn't threaded to accept the uc valve that i know of

thank you brotha, you can find this on Amazon. I got mine at REI. there whisperlite universal ruins around $140, but you can get the whisperlite international for $90. it's the exact same stove, but it doesn't use the ISO pro fuel canisters. it's liquid fuel only and will burn just about anything.

I would guess the canister fuel burns the cleanest. Maybe there will be the least maintenance using it.

YES JJ ug is universal gas c canister so on no don't own one just want and cant afford so have been drooling over on line specs
