There are dozens of accents within the continent of Asia. To term something as “Asian accent” Is plain ignorant. Within China itself, the main languages - Mandarin and Cantonese - have very different accents.

Part of the problem with apologizing these days (even beyond comedy) is that you effectively end up apologizing for how someone else understood what you said, even if it's far from what you meant. So if there's a profound difference between those two things, what good does an apology do? You're actually just allowing them to double down on their version of events. If someone is just going to make the worst possible inference of you regardless, why bother trying to meet them in the middle?
