This was a big box office hit for MGM. This was a major studio production with top notch writing and cast with some very decent A-list talent. Not a B movie at all. Best brains chose this one for the 50's style and 50's lingo. And of course Mamie!

The first time we see Mamie Van Doren, Crow and Tom Servo react in unison: "Boing-oing-oing..." Oh my god, I have to replay that bit three or four times whenever I watch this one. That and "What am I supposed to be looking at in this scene" when she gets out of the car. Mike and the Bots really have a great time with Van Doren's, er, dimensions in this one. Classic, hilarious episode.

Almost the whole cast is still alive. Mamie Van Doren, Paul Anka, Gigi Perreau (Serafina), Kathy Crosby and Elinor Donahue are all still alive as of January 25, '22. So is James Mitchum. They could do a sequel.

@@analogkid01 The Warner Bros titles they got (this one, Catalina Caper, Untamed Youth I can think of) stick out for their big-time 'production value', regardless the premises or jokeability. I'd add The Space Children and The Crawling Hand, too, but I don't think either were WB. Better shots, blocking, etc than we usually get to see on the S.O.L. though, for sure.

MGM was in a steep decline since the early 50s. They were no longer the prestige studio on their heyday.

Mamie Van Doren is the only good thing in the movie. She looked fabulous and really had charisma.
