I first learned of this movie from the Wikipedia article "List Of Films Considered The Worst Ever". Along with "The Beast Of Yucca Flats", "Eegah", "Monster-A Go-Go", and "Manos: The Hands Of Fate", "The Creeping Terror" is just one of those films from the 60's that was perfect to be riffed on by the good people of MST3K. And I am so glad they did!
@Jerepasaurus
@Jerepasaurus 6 ай бұрын
Honestly, Eegah has a half decent premise. It had some briefly charming or amusing moments, though of course it's still terrible. I think it could be remade, maybe even as a partial comedy... but also with a less tragic ending. lol

To alexisdawn89: They did record dialogue, but through the incompetence of the director, Vic Savage (who later took investments from the film and disappeared), it was accidentally erased (I think he or someone from the crew dropped it into a lake). Others claim that Savage either recorded the sound, but it was so bad it did not transfer, or they did not record it and planned to overdub in post-production. Evidently, an announcer at a local radio station who had nothing to do with the movie dubbed in the final dialogue. Still, according to the Best Brains, it was one of the worst movies they ever watched (along with "Skydivers," "Future Alien" and especially "Eegah! - which they put off for four years before actually using it on their show). Interestingly enough, many of the scenes were filmed on the old Spahn Ranch, where, within a few years, Charles Manson and his minions would camp out.

Those are some of my favorite parts of Invasion of the Neptune Men- when the dubbing is so ridiculous (and basically 99% of the dubbing is ridiculous and makes the people sound like wacky cartoon characters) that Mike and the Bots can’t help but just giggle or crack up when the characters talk (especially at the 10-year-old boys with very incongruously deep voices who were obviously dubbed by grown men not even trying to sound like kids).

@@alienmcqueen The original season (Usually considered 'Season 0') was on KTMA a local channel in Minnesota. That season never really saw much syndication and because of that there is actually a few missing episodes. Seasons 1 through 7 were on Comedy Central. Seasons 8 through 10 were on SciFi (Or 'SyFy' if you wanna use that stupid rebranding they did). There was also a movie.. yes.. you could go to a theatre to watch Mike and the Bots sit in a theatre and watch a movie. It was made during Season 7 and is why that season is so short and while it's a pretty good episode it didn't do too well at the box office.

Analogkid will kill me for saying this, but I prefer Mike to Joel (though I still like Joel a lot). I think the show's run with Mike and Trace featured some of the best episodes of the show, with either fantastically inept movies (like this one and Wild World of Batwoman, Starfighters, Racket Girls and all three Coleman Francis movies) or somewhat competently made but very goofy movies (Alien from L.A., Angel's Revenge, Outlaw, Deathstalker, Escape 2000 and Laserblast). But back to this movie, the monster clumsily eating people just kills me every time, as well as the Jerry Lewis-like dancing fool. 'Wa wa wa wa oh lady!"

I heard that show was very corny and cringy. I've also heard that numerous tv shows like that were made to help provide a life of escapism in the 70's from the Vietnam War, civil rights, etc. It's kinda no wonder the SOL crew made fun of it.

Years ago, Michael and Harry Medved wrote a couple of books about terrible movies, and in one of them (I think it was 'The Golden Turkey Awards'), in the introduction, they wrote that one of the films described in the book was a fabrication. They then 'challenged' us to discover which one was completely made up. For years I thought it HAD TO BE 'The Creeping Terror'. A film that basically had a carpet as the horrifying monster? One that had to be almost entirely narrated because the soundtrack was lost? I couldn't believe that such a film existed, and years later when I found it that it really did . . . wow. Just wow. Thank God the geniuses at MST3K got a hold of it - now the film has a reason to exist!

@@rebeltinaschannel6240 from wikipedia : One of the films nominated in the book was in fact an invention of the authors, and readers were challenged to figure out which film was actually fake. The fake film was Dog of Norway featuring "Muki the Wonder Hound". This film was illustrated using a photo of a co-author's dog. The giveaway was that the same dog was in the photo of the authors in the back of the book. Another film in the book, the now-lost 1974 porn film Him, has also been cited as the hoax, though it is known to have existed.

Rhodes1966 not to mention the egregious audio problems, and I'm not even talking about the narrator. The sheer abuse of the "wind" sounds, the near constant "monster" screeching, and the same sound clip of the same lady making the same scream, over and over and over. Man, I'm beginning to think the entire goal of the production was to disgruntle viewers so deeply through repetition it would incite a nation-wide riot to end the entire motion picture industry as a whole. Our boys on the SOL did their best but I wish I coulda been there in the writers room hearing them rip this one apart without the filter of character or correctness, now THAT would be a hoot!
