My buddy had the regulus ruling resolve an interesting way at his regional, apparently the head judge ruled Regulus vs. Mystic Mine would permanently negate the Mine on board and it would essentially just stay as a negated card permanently. So nice to know this is how it should be done.

Chimera can pop. It knows the materials number and locations on activation. He'll resolve with effect. There's an email ruling on this and Hunter Landis wrote an article in the Judges Lounge on it recently.

@@MSTTV Chimera will still resolve even after flipped face-down on summon and there is an email ruling directly from KDE Japan that says it can. As always though, "ask your head judge" for TCG. A lot of people don't like to believe email rulings but it is by asking questions that the official konami database FAQ gets updated.

So I have a question about the D.D crow vs Regulus. Regulus's cost is to target a machine monster before he could special summon himself and it didn't matter that D.D crow got rid of the target from where it was. So how is it different when it comes to Virtual World LuLu, for example, that targets another VW monster for cost and if someone gets rid of the target then Lulu's effect would not resolve normally because the target is gone? Why is there a difference?

The target has a semi colon so its i guess "cost" lol. Regulus specials first then equips. Vs Lulu target is also "cost" since it has a semi colon but it needs to check that the cards are different. If it loses the ability to check you cant revolve the effect to completion. Basically because regulus targets as cost by the time you d.d crow it it already met its summon requirment then it touches the field and attempts to resolve fully but the original target has been banished so no equip

Hey MST I have a ruling question. If I activate illegal knight’s effect giving control of it to my opponent then attempting to return their cyberdark end dragon to the hand, which is unaffected by “opponents” activated effects, what will happen?

Random judge online here, the effect to target up to two cards on your opponent’s side of the field, switch control of it and then returning those cards to the hand is still treated as your activated effect, as it is a “ if, then…” conjunction. What will happen is you will give control of your illegal knight to him, and cyber dark end dragon will stay on the field.

A similar card that will actually work will be Armityle the Chaos Phantasm - Phantom of Fury, as the effect to banish all cards the new controller is a mandatory trigger effect that’s consider to be the owner’s card effect. You can also just flip a skill drain for an easy out to it. 😂

No problem. Cyber dark dragon is only unaffected by activated effects, like tombox said in the video, skill drain doesn’t actually have an “activated effect”, you do activate the card “skill drain”, but the continuous effect is then apply , so cyber dark dragon will be negated by skill drain.

Regulus will negate the activated effect of mine as cl1 (in this case, nothing). After that continuous effects apply as normal. Mine will still prevent the player who controls more monsters from activating monster effects or attacking.

It will do nothing vs Mystic mine... because mystic mine doesn't have an activated effect... the continuous effect will apply anyway. There is no 1 turn stun from Regulus

What the heck?? The TTT ruling should be completely the other way around. A summon trigger is the same as a on field trigger, only that the condition for the trigger effect activating is the summon of the card. Makes no sense for me why it should be rules otherwise. Probably a salty despia player that changed this ruling.

@@YohananYGO No, it doesn't make any sense to activate the effect of an "invisible" card that isn't even in your POSSESSION, while the opponent has a LEGALLY FUSION SUMMONED, with KNOWN MATERIALS (no face-down shenanigans), on the SUMMON RESPONSE WINDOW. (possess is like extended "control" to every place you can have a card, while own means the physical owner of said card, for example if you Kaiju me, you are the "owner" of the card, but it is under my "control" and in my "possession" in general, so I will be the one to use its effects)

The Therion king vs D.D crow ruling confuses me. Because with virtual world, if the target is removed from the field, you don't get to resolve the VW monster effect in the hand. So how come it is different for Therion King?

Lulu needs to be able to check the card type of the card targeted. It's resolving effect is tied to what it targeted. Regulus on the other hand doesn't really care about what he targeted when it comes to summoning himself.

there is one thing i dont understand about ttt/guardian chimera: cards don't trigger, if they are not anymore in the right spot, where the trigger conditions are met. So if chain link 1 zeuss and chain link 2 branded in red summoning the guardian chimera, it is no longer on the field and hence cannot activate its effect in a new chain. But what if the opponent takes control over the chimera with ttt, like in your example? Did it not technically leave its trigger spot by leaving the opponents side? I am a bit confused about this.

Taking control doesn't change the location of Chimera. The word "location" in yugioh refer to hand, field, gy, banish, deck, and extra deck. Changing control doesn't change the fact that Chimera is still on the field (same location)

So for clarification regarding summoning triggers and control changing, if I activate Talents to take and my opponent has Trouble Sunny on field and both link twins in the grave, they chain Trouble Sunny to tribute and summon both link monsters, the opponent gets to resolve both their pop and their draw?

Im assuming you were taking the trouble sunny. But no your opponent does not get to pop or draw because order of chain goes after touble sunny chained to special summon your TTT still needs to resovle before the twins can trigger on a new chain. So they dont get either because in their texts it states if they are summone AND control. By the time the effect would trigger they no longer control 2 evil twins.

If I have chain link 1 Eglen with an unexplored winds on field and my opponent chain links two branded in red, chain resolved they add and fusion into guardian chimera and I add an empen. Immediately after eglen resolves I normal so I Tribute sending my eglen and their chimera for empen does their chimera still activate since it’s not on the field anymore before it could trigger?

So with chimera being a summon trigger say my opponent goes CL1 Mirrorjade I chain branded in red to summon chimera then mirrorjade resolves to banish the chimera. Does the chimera effect still resolve because it was successfully summoned?

@@soulbreaker625 this scenario is not about resolution, it is about activation. If Guardian Chimera is not in its trigger location when it’s effect would attempt to activate, it cannot activate. This is from rule update in April 2020, also the reason why when a Cyber Angel Benten is tributed by a Drytron monster and is banished by D.D. Crow on chain link 2, it will not activate on the subsequent chain because it has left the area it’s trigger effect would have activated in.

Monsters with a trigger effect must be able to activate that trigger effect from the spot where there trigger location is met. If you are referring to Sage with eyes of Blue effect that activates on normal summon, unless the normal summon is negated, it’s trigger effect will be able to activate. These are completely different scenarios.

So while Regulus doesn't negate the activation of Branded Fusion, it negates its effect of actually fusion summoning a monster. So because of Branded Lost Regulus couldn't negate it.

Gotta love yugioh, Konami spends time making paragraphs on cards but none of the text going to understanding what you can do. I get it, most will say “get competent” to get good but the packs still say +6 ages so imagine breaking a kid’s heart because of something happening not on the card, a card not being able to resolve or will not resolve the way they thought intended. Number 5 doesn't make any sense at all. Consider Mechaba under lancea. Mechaba can't negate under lancea because of the wording "negate the activation, and if you do, banish that card" but through your explanation for number 5 then mechaba would still be able to negate even though it can't banish the card due to lancea. How does that make any sense?

I think it's such an issue now since branded in red exist, I played through invoked format when it just came out we never argued meltdown super poly was at 1 I think and that never came up often either much other than the occasional I chain torrential after summon . The issue now is how prevelant branded in red is and how often it comes up its a quick play able to be played on your opponents turn so now chains really start mattering as opposed to I play invocation which will always be last to resolve.
