Mohamad Zatari Trio was founded in 2019, based on the desire to transcend the boundaries between the sound worlds.
The group's first appearance took place at the Outernational Days Festival, in 2020.
The trio consists of performers Sara Eslami (Iran) on Tar, Avadhut Kasinadhuni (India / Romania) on Tabla and the ensemble's founder, Mohamad Zatari (Syria) on Oud.
The approached repertoire includes original compositions signed by the group members, Sara Eslami and Mohamad Zatari, but also rearranged traditional pieces from West Asia and North Africa, which combine timbers, techniques, and aesthetics in a lively and original form.

The event was hosted in collaboration with the Romanian Peace Institute - PATRIR as part of the STIRE Cultural Market. The Syrian cultural market is designed as a social interaction three-day event for bringing together the resettled people of Syrian origin with established diaspora and/or refugee organizations in the region from the same/similar origin.

Amazing tabla! The timing married to the wild horse rythms of the strings! Like an elephant dancing to the horses! 😲 Wow

What a wonderful performance! I especially love the drive of "The Road" (no pun intended), adored the rhythm of "Black Tea" and enjoyed the slower paced Eves Chatters. If you guys are on spotify, I'll be adding you to my fav playlists. Thank you so much!

@@SamuelLipscomb-bt1io The "si" or "se" signifies 3 whilst "tar" means "string." The Setar was brought to India by the Persians and the instrument was changed to better accommodate the Indian musical practices, later when the language was being Latinised, the Brits and Indians chose "i" & the Iranians used an "e". Also, the Persian tar used to have 5 strings, yet the sixth string had been added to the tar by Darvish Khan. Mirza Sadiq Asad had introduced changes in traditional Iranian Tar's structure and form for the Azerbaycanis, increasing the number of its strings and bringing them up to 11.

The most Indian thing in that room is the tabla... there also is absolutely no presence of a sitar being anywhere in the room... However, there *is* a Persian Tar.
