Ήταν ένα πολύ καλό γεροντάκι που όταν σου μιλούσε ένιωθες μέχρι και στο τελευταίο σου κύτταρο, όλη την αγάπη και την καλοσύνη που έβγαζε αυτός ο άνθρωπος. Σου μιλούσε με τόσο ζεστό και καλοσυνατο τρόπο, που γαληνευε η ψυχή και το πνεύμα σου. Επίσης, από τους μοναχούς που εμφανίζονται σε αυτό το βίντεο, δυστυχώς δεν υπάρχει στη ζωή πλέον κι ο π.Σεραπίον (εκοιμήθη κι αυτός πριν 2 χρόνια περίπου, χτυπημένος και νικημένος από τον καρκίνο). Την ευλογία τους να έχουμε από εκεί ψηλά που βρίσκονται, δίπλα στον Κύριο μας Ιησού Χριστό!

did you know that it is forbidden for women to go there. one of few women before 19th century that was approved to go there was Serbian empress Jelena (consort of tzar Dusan) , during the plague. Allegedly she never touched the ground and she was carried all the way x) that was real respect for that secret ground, unlike English and French women who went there...

Make Albania orthodox again.... then us Serbs will have no problem with having you as neighbors in kosovo. we used to fight as Christians against ottomans.... like in 1389 Kosovo Battle there were Albanians who fought to keep kosovo in serbian hands. but problem is mujaheddins who have slandered Albanian name. they have tarnished the long legacy of resistance by accepting islam. i hope one day orthodoxy will rise in albania.

I think that we should not say negative things about other denominations of Christianity, whether or not they are lost or whatever and so on AND that these also leave us be in our Orthodoxy. We are not going to change regardless of what they think and believe and they aren't going to change so please leave us be and we leave you be as well. We in Orthodoxy must strive to live righteously and leave the rest alone.

I'm sorry, but the Novus Ordo liturgically wrecked Catholic Church has fallen into apostasy. The Catholic Church has self-destructed; it is impposible to worship in a typical modern Catholic parish with its lay ministers, bare altars, Protestant music, etc. The Orthodox Church has remained TRUE to the ancient apostles. It is the Catholic Church that keeps re-inventing itself. Tragic! Tragic! Thank God for the Orthodox Church!

I am greek.all orthodox people in all the world go in mount athos.many rich prime ministers, putin,kings..I went many times and the experience is amazing.monks make people better..for orthodox and for me is the most important place in earth.is something like batican,belong to greece but all orthodox countries like russia have monastries there.I can say too much things for the history of athos..god bless you all,orthodox and not orthodox!

Greg Cegielski It's only a small part of Greece. Greece is full of dogs, cats, and beautiful women, go to the beaches. Not allowing women was done so the Monks could focus of their faith and women can be a distraction for most men in the area of lust, human nature. I hope the radical feminist never get their way.

I remember when the radical feminist got a judge to rule all male bars in America illegal. But, I see female gyms only all over. I have no interest in all male bars but it seems like a double standard. Mt. Athos should ignore the demands of the EU. If they are forced to take in women then the should be required to totally cover up like a Muslim, that would deter a lot. They can see 99% of Greece!

Icons are a later development. Would Orthodox liturgy be the same without icons? I'm no expert but sure icon veneration is not the only example of later developments one could find.

If you mean the byzantines . They were actually speaking Greek and not only using the alphabet as you say, tiny example, Constantinople (which is today's Instabul in case you don't know) means the city of Constantine Constantine -pole =city in Greek
