Wonderful video, the Central West Bushwalking club did 2 amazing weekend trips in Jul 2024 - day trip snowshoes with the luxury of warm Jindabyne accommodation in the evenings ;)

Thanks Ralph! It was such a special trip. Alas... not for 2021 by the looks of things, we'll have to wait until 2022 ;-D

I'm surprised how little snowshoeing is done in Australia and having done a bit in the northern hemisphere I'm a big fan!

Going xc skiing up there later in the year for my advanced outdoor education class at school. We went up for a hike as a year in yr 7 and now I am in year 10. Not too sure what to expect but super hyped for the experience!

That'll be a great trip! One of the things to love is the schools that really invest and commit to solid outdoor ed. So good to see. Enjoy!

OMG this looks so different from summer and (yanno, when lockdowns are all gone) would be amazing to do!

Hello where can I find a route or map for the hike?
@LotsaFreshAir2 жыл бұрын
Hey Benny, our group are all experienced off-track navigators, so we don't generally tend to use tracks or routes that people download or stick to. This was just our own plans and route we took, adjusting and switching things up depending on wind direction and conditions. The return trip from Kosci summit to the top of the chairlift was the bog-standard track though.

Amazing Caro, thanks for the heads up on this one. It’s just what I needed. Absolutely perfect summary for my weekend. Feeling a little out of my comfort zone but as you said will go with experienced friends and give it a crack. It was so good to see a little overview of what to expect. Hope we get weather like that. Cheers

Make sure boots are good quality & in good condition with fresh waterproofing spray etc, gaiters better or wear ski pants with elastic bottoms like I do ;)

I had no idea there are Alps in Australia, but it’s beautifull up there. I have been in the Austrian and Swiss Alps, these are closer by and also very nice. Being from Holland we have no mountains what som ever. Just a lot of rivers and lakes..l

I think this is because of the cultural history and tradition of story telling that is different to each country. In Indo it sounds like you have been told that there are ghosts and spirits up there, and this becomes part of your strong belief. We don't have those stories or belief in my culture, but we have other ones!
