MTA leaders "blindsided" by NYC congestion pricing delay

Sources say Gov. Kathy Hochul neglected to tell MTA board members, who were shocked and stunned by the move on congestion pricing. CBS New York's Marcia Kramer reports.

When you hire people who can’t balance their own check books this is what you get they spend money meant to be for maintenance of the system then expect the people to pay again but in New York the MTA is to big to fail.

Good decision HOCUL to halt congestion pricing! Why does the MTA have a budget deficit? Illegal Migrants and Criminals not paying fares. No point taxing the law abiding people when the blame clearly lies elsewhere. Start a crackdown on the people not paying fares and make up the shortfall!

Lol you must not be from the city.. Fare evasion is a pipedream scapegoat city officials use to justify their misallocation of mta funds.. Keep the stations safe clean and up to date, invest in newer and more efficient cars and take pride in the transit system you're in charge of.

Honestly, the only ones that would have been affected by the congestion pricing would have been the Todt Hill, Brooklyn Heights, and Tribeca types rather than the "hard working New Yorkers" Kathy the Klutz is talking about (which she now seems happy to hurt with jacking up the payroll taxes to cover the deficit)

Since 2018 for below 96st cabs been charging a surcharge of ($2.75 for Ubers) and ($2.50 for Taxis), essentially congestion pricing, hundreds of millions already going to the MTA. In addition to increased tolls, fares, weed tax, higher parking fines .. they need more money? NYC has the highest GDP of any city in the world $1.2 Trillion, c'mon bro

Let’s be real if it wasn’t our election year, and the Democrats were in jeopardy of losing their seats. Congesting pricing would be going to affect at the end of this month but instead they’re gonna wait till after the election to put it into play when all they need to do is just put tolls on the river crossings therefore it’s fair game for everybody you don’t have to pay the tolls if you use the battery or the Midtown Tunnel.

This is a good move - $15 is a lot. Why not start low and work your way up to $10 or $15 years from now? It’s not only the rich from the suburbs who have to bear the brunt of this charge. Small businesses have the white vans that pick up goods from Manhattan - they will bear the brunt of this. Not all trucks are UPS and fedex and Amazon trucks. Good move Hochul!

The MTA Board is going to have to figure out how to pay back the kickbacks they'd received from the infrastructure construction companies that sponge up that taxpayer money. And this idea that they're penalizing poverty stricken casino customers who regularly go gamble away their life at the nickel slots is pure cap. But hey, here's an idea, why don't you go after the Wall Street transaction fee of pennies on the hundred dollars. The good news here, not a single poor person will be harmed because they don't live off of a dividend checks. But why am I shocked?
