MTA New York City Bus & MTA Bus Company : The Old Scheme & The New Scheme

After many years of representing the white and blue, the MTA, along with Governor Andrew Cuomo decided its time for a change(even though the MTA was somewhat against the idea).
The fleet seen here is the 2015-2016 New Flyer XD60 "Xcelsior" Artic fleet over at MTA Bus, since these are the buses that are mainly affected by this sudden change. These videos were taken along various locations along the Q10 route, several before and after videos at that.
These not only have been changed to a new paint scheme, but they also have Wi-Fi and USB charing ports, both of which I think is completely unnecessary.
Powertrain remains the same, Cummins ISL9 with the ZF Ecolife 6AP1700B transmission.
You can catch these on the Q10, Q111, Q113 and Q114 with occasional runs on the Q7 and Q110.

It's a wrapping not a paint job so it's a lot cheaper than painting the bus. All buses 2012 and newer will be wrapped with this scheme. It doesn't really cost much to add wifi on the buses because all the buses already have wifi on them it's just making it accessible to the public. However usb will only be on buses that have yet to be delivered. The Wifi really is terrible though.. if u remember dialing up to the internet then that's the kind of service you will get.

It's not completely a wrapping job. 5364-5367, 5369-5411 are wrapped. 5368, 5412-5439 are painted.

Marcella C it is nice but one part is a little confusing. The new bus just has the MTA logo. How do you know which one is MTA bus and which one is a New York City bus. When they put the MTA logo on the bus they should put either MTA BUS or NEW YORK CITY BUS on the new scheme.

I think the different color is to differentiate the wi-fi buses from the regular buses. I doubt the MTA going to change the color scheme of all the buses.

Waste of money painting all these buses. I like the current scheme always have and will. The MTA has to stop wasting money on dumb stuff that does not improve our transportation experience. How about paying more to those people that are suppose to keep the fleets clean? Bunch of crooks

Dumb azz the buses are not painted that way, that is wrapping tape that MTA and other agencies use on their products. It not as costly as painting. You can do the same thing to your car.
