For me its Squirt all year round, works well enough, clean the new chain ones, top it off later and after few rides same procedure as new chain, works great for me.

I’ve been running the Peaty’s Dry Lube, and it is very close to comparable drip wax lubes (Squirt, Smoove). It is unbelievably clean, lasts a while, and a little goes a long way. I think Peaty’s nailed this one.

@@spektrumB yes, but , looking at this zfc video, he tested c3, which is ceramic one (I used it too and noticed that my chain screams for help after 40km of dusty riding) and smb tested the ordinary one, so its not the same lube .

Peaty’s all weather is so perfect for gravel and cross-country bikes. Lasts longer than dry, not as messy as wet, aka perfect for endurance racing. 10/10 product, works very similar to the new Wolf Tooth chain lube.

good video Doddy!!!! I have tried all kinds of lubes,then I watched some zero friction cycle videos and was converted to hot wax immersion and I love it...I use silca super secret hot wax on a new chain then every 1000kms a redip in the hot wax and maintain in between hot baths with silca's super secret dry drip in a bottle...coming up on 2200 kms on a 12 sp shimano xtr chain with a bosch cx motor working that chain hard...

funny really such a straight forward process is so technical nowadays, for my road bike it's wax & will never change from that, for my mtb i would rather use a dry even in light rain as nothing sticks to it but if going Wales or something for a week or so then normally wet even if weather is dry because i am normally my the sea, for me it all depends when I have the time to clean it because i insist on a clean chain due to 40 years cycling I know how much damage can occur from parts not oiled correctly

They used a brand but how exactly does that undermine their credibility when it comes to explaining the different use cases for each type of lubricant? It's entirely unnecessary to flag the video as being sponsored for the simple fact that they weren't reviewing the product in question nor were they claiming to offer an unbiased comparison between it and its competitors.

Another great overview video - very tempted by the Dry Lube so I can compare it to my current go to - Squirt - use this all year round in the Peaks and elsewhere and it has been hands down the best chain lube I have ever used. I use wet and dry lube depending on the conditions... And I use an old toothbrush to clean the chain after the ride (bike cleaner on and brush) and the water displacer and lube after that... And about once every 4-5 rides I remove the chain and give it a proper clean... Ps.: I use Mucoff because it smells nice... ;-)

Sand and grit gets stuck INSIDE the rollers. You can't just brush it out. Even removing the chain and shaking it in a petrol filled jar won't help. You need a jet washer and or air compressor to really flush the rollers. With the chain off you can hear and feel the grit in the chain and whether its actually clean. Otherwise all lubes you apply will just lock the grit in the chain
@roilev

Of course you can flush it out. The way it got in, it will go out. That's the purpose of the degreasers

#Gmbntech I’ve settled on hot waxing. I’ve tried many products recommended by GMBN but for the multitude of riding conditions i encounter each ride and the cost of premium luba and cleaning, hot wax is most effective and cost friendly. I love the mucoff products and I use them on kids bikes but for me hot waxing is most effective

Great video Doddy!! I am wondering if it matters which lube to use on a bike that is strictly for indoor training. I have retired an older hardtail and lube it once in awhile. I have a lot of wet lube around and I would assume it would be okay to use. Does it really matter?

Clean your chain once every month and just use a little motor oil and wipe off the excess. If you want to get fancy, get GT85 or 1-step. Use it to clean your chain and it lubes it just fine. Both these methods are super cheap and work just fine

I have tried muc-off c3 and ebike and they both get horribly black and grimy real quick. Takes many cycles of ultrasonic clean bath to get it all clean again. Now using dry lub spray wax for motorcycles and find it does not like low temperatures but it is clean. After reading the comments Squirt do a low temperature wax so I might try that. As for using Peatys wet lube for ebikes if I was going to do that I might as well use 3in1.

Soaking a rag with motor oil (any engine oil will do) and pulling the chain through it. That's it. Repeat every week on rainy conditions and every month on dry conditions. No special expensive chain oil needed and no degreaser or anything else. Motor oil has everything needed, it works not only as a lubricant but also as a detergent and rust inhibitor, it has anti wear components, too. In winter it's thin enough and in summer thick enough due to it's viscostiy improvers it comes with when it is a multigrade oil which every motor oil nowadays is. Like I said, everything ever needed is already in motor oil included. There is no cheaper and more effective way to take care of your bicycle chain.

I happily prefer dry lubes or generic lubes over wet lubes. Tried Muc-Off C3 Wet. A big layer of sticky muc built up all over the drivetrain and frame. So i needed tons of muc-off to get the muc-off muc off my bikes. The bottle of C3 would thus consume muc-off products worth of 2-4 chains. Now I use Squirt, happy so far….
